i am a bit confused by the power and rev differences of some brushless motors: I have a neo 2 star in a b4 buggy raced on grass and controlled by an LRP sphere ESC.
I want some more speed/power but not sure whether to go for a 3 star motor or a velociti 6.5 or 5.5!
The Neo 2 star does 6900 rpm/volt and has 242W power
The Neo 3 star does 7700 rpm/volt and has 263W power
The velociti 6.5 does 6400 rpm/volt and has 340W power
The velociti 5.5 does 7400 rpm/volt and has 380W power
the velociti's have a lot more power but less revs per volt.
can anyone explain this please?
thanks.

I would look at the new version LRP Vector motors.... now labeled like Novaks... 7.5,6.5, etc.
They seem to run stronger than the Reedy Neo motors.
Pick up a Vector 5.5

ok, thanks.
do you mean the new vector XII motors? here

will a standard sphere using 6 cell IB4200's handle it ok?
will a B4 buggy raced on grass handle it ok too?
With the higher power, you can afford to gear those motors higher to make up for the lower rpm. If you kept the same gearing and went with the Velocity 5.5 you would have higher top speed and acceleration, and would probably still have room to gear up for more top end.

Ummm... not sure how the standard sphere will handle that. I was thinking of the Comp.
The Sphere is rated "over 5.5 turns" so I guess than means the 5.5 is out of spec? I would run it, but you should check with LRP and see what they say.
I can say that the Vector 6.5 feels stronger than a 2 star in a B4. That's what I have run. I have a 2 star and a fellow racer just switched to a 6.5 in his B4. He says it has more "snort" to it, esp in the middle of the powerband.

Has anyone compared the 2* to the new 7.5 motor? I'm really happy with my 2 stars and just want to know if the 7.5 will be a good replacement if/when one of my 2 stars crap out.

I "think" the 6.5 is the equal of the 2 star. I may hvae that wrong.... someone have hte kv specs handy?
Looks like the 2 star is a 7.5? I had believed what I was told that the star was a 6.5. hmmm
No wonder the 6.5 had more rip.
