Hey there... I am gonna use the truck for racing only. Opinions are welcome as to which one you would race. My gut feeling is either a Revo 3.3 or a TNX 5.2.. alot of the national races have been won by a Revo 3.3 but from what I have read the TNX 5.2 looks comparable.
Thanks,
Mike

for me it would be a choice between the lst2 and the revo 3.3. the savage x i would not consider for racing. the tnx 5.2 is also a great truck but has lack of after market support and the motor is illegal. good luck with your decision. pat

Just so you know the Revo 3.3 out of the box is pretty dam good, and pretty much a killer. The lst2, its pretty quick, it wont end up last, but not exactly first with the stock tires, the motor isn't bad but a LRP .28 spec 3 can boost you into first :D. In order to get the LST2 into a amazing racer, i think you need to start with a new set of the stock rims(called 420 dish rims, 20mm hex) proline 40 series bow ties, BAC link for steering(helps increase and strengthen steering noticably) and before you get all that you need a Dynamite Engine brace to start with, a FOC is a ggreat option as most tracks wont except a truck with reverse. The radio is great, everything else is very strong, however people find the turnbuckles tend to bend or break, a set of Lunsfords are a great option and have a lifetime warrenty against bendign and breakage. Thats all i would do to start with, if your really intense with racing. But to start, just get the dynatmite engien brace like i said, and hit the track and see if you like the way it drives then debate your shock weight(id leave it stock to begin) you want to run, and diff oil(30k for front diff is popular, 10k for the rear), toe in, toe out adjustment. Hope that helps. :D

Lst2 has fixed toe in the rear, im not to sure wether or not losi make a hop up to regain that adjustment, but i know with some different parts the losi can be made into a capable racer. Otherwise the revo would be a good choice as well as the tnx, swap the engine out for a legal one keep the big block for bashing, another thing with the tamiya is the shocks are direct copys of pro line powerstrokes albiet made of plastic instead of alloy so will be lighter and powerstrokes springs and pistons are a direct fit with them.
I wouldnt consider a savage for racing, but i have seen sum highly modded ones do really well, but i think the only thing that had a savvyness about them was the tvp plates, most everything else was changed on them.

savage = bash
tnx = bash 80%/race 20%
revo = bash 15%/race 85%

For racing, I think there's nothing better then a 3.3 Revo. Thats what I'm racing and it runs great. Out of the box it performs great on the track. If you're looking to get into it more and do some work, there is alot of little things that can make you faster and make the truck better.
I have a 3.3 Revo and also a Savage X. I race the Revo and bash with the Savage. For racer, I'd go with nothing except the Revo 3.3

it does have it fixed, but according to pro racers on the LSTforum, its set just right, and its 2 less things you need to worry about adjusting, or will break.

I've never really driven an LST but I can surely give my input on the Revo and the TNX. I think its clear that the Savage is more of a basher so I don't need to say more about that. I must say though that the Savage has a feature that none of the other MTs have that is very ideal for racing; easy access diffs. I don't think it can get any easier than that.
I raced a TNX for more than 2 years. I did everything, and I mean everything, one could do to make the TNX a formidable opponent on the race track. Most of my finishes were 1st place with the TNX.
I drove the first version of the Revo(tuned for racing) and I didn't like it. I tried but I was still faster with my TNX. Then I kept reading about how a longer chassis makes the Revo a totally different beast. I still didn't want to buy a revo and end up buying a longer chassis, a stronger motor, and the p2 rockers. Then when the 3.3 came out, I gave it a shot.
Boy was I surprised at how the fast and surefooted the Revo was around the track. All the other fast guys at my track were running TNXs and they didn't have any chance of even hanging with me. I didn't even have to try to convince them to get a Revo. I just made them drive my truck and next thing you know, they had one coming in the mail. :D
So, you can't go wrong with a Revo.
Edit:
I forgot to add something. Since just about everyone at my track now own Revos, the competition has gotten really tough. Another testimony to how great Revos are: a diehard Savage racer who couldn't make it at least to 3rd place is now placing podium with his Revo 3.3 despite the tougher competition.

I know this isn't my thread, but I've been paying attention, and I've decided to work this summer to get a Revo 3.3. I've seen too many people at the track having fun to pass up on it! (and I bet my dad would get one it I got one because he fights a loose truck all the time with his nitro Evader ST)

Out of the box the revo is going to have the advantage in speed and handleing but its also a 1/10 scale being compared to 1/8 scales so there are some major differances between them. if your looking for 1/10 scale truck the revo is prety much the best rtr out there at the moment unless you wanna go the kit route, but... if you wanna go with a 1/8 scale truck i would definatly go with the lst2. The lst2 is an awesome truck and it handles beautiful it out performs the tnx and the savage hands down.

I just got an LST2 and I love it. It handle very well in mildly packed dirt. I'm no racer so I'll never know how it does on the track. Its more for keeping busey in between riding my 4 wheeler. I love it and, to me, you cant beat the quality of the LST2. Yes its expensive but the price is well justified IMO. The MGT and Traxass trucks are missing quite a bit compared to the LST2. I compared quite a bit before I bought it. I'm not just talking out of my *****.
The only things I will be doing is a FO conversion. I dont plan of flying it eather :roll2: . I dont know how people bash a $700(w/ taxes) truck.

you can figure out a way :D Check out the LSTforums, people are jumping 50FT plus, without any issues :p

LST2 is great for double duty. You can use the stock tires and bash then flip over to some bowties and go racing.
The Revo needs some work to make it a worthy racer. Slayden has to tack-weld his chassis to keep it from bending when he races, and he has to move the pipe to the side because it gets crushed being located in the rear.
The TNX is an aswom truck that doesn't require anything at all for racing or bashing!

I have a savage truckzilla and it runs pretty well on the track. But i agree that it is a very good bash up car. I have not broken anything since i got it in 2006. I hit jumps that were 4 feet high too. There is also aftermarket stuff on it.

I have been racing my LST (1st gen) for 2 years and have only had a few minor problems. My truck can out-accelerate, out-jump, and out-handle any other truck I have come up against, with the exception of other LST's of course. I have made some significant upgrades, personal preferences mostly, but with a few changes, it can be a very imposing racer on the track. Just my 2 cents.

3.3 Revo, the suspension is golden. Handles flawlessly.
