Most people are wanting the fastest thing going, but I have another quest. I need an electric monster truck that will be super durable and last a long time on a charge. this will not be for racing, so there are no restrictions. Priorities- 1)durable chassis and parts, 2)longest possible run time 3)as maintenance free as possible. I am thinking a brushless (low power motor) and lipo is the way to go but what truck? E-savage or E maxx? This will be for driver sthat have never driven RC anything, and will be used for 3-4 hours a day. thanks for any input you have.

I started out with an emaxx about 4 years ago. I bought it new. I was impressed by the speed we clocked it at 35mph. That was with 2 1500 batteries. The only thing in 4 years I ever complained about was low running time. 2 Tittan 550 motors drained the 1500 batteries within 15 to 20 min. After 1 year of owning it I bought 2 3300 batteries and enjoyed the truck more than when it was new.It would still only last about 20 to 25 min per battery change. Great for hill climing and fartin around. I built a full blow out figure 8 track in the back and thats when suff started to brake. But when your jumping 4ft tall 6ft long table tops you tend to crash every now and then. Anyway I had 1 motor finally crap out on me but it lasted 4 years and a lot of bad wrecks. If I had the money I would put brushless motors in it and piggy back batteries cause the truck is fun, but I have a t-maxx now and going 45 to 50 is funner on the track. So the emaxx has become a parts truck.

4 years huh? That's good, because I'll have one of those in my closet comming this summer. Plus, it might have to go into hibernation for college work here soon............
(2 years away, but still...........)

Sounds like a Radio Shack or Tyco type vehicle is the way to go to meet your needs. They are typically designed around your criteria. Maybe get some of our r/c car batteries instead of Radio Shack batteries so they last longer.....

MaxAmps Lipo 10000HV 2S 7.4V Pack + Novak Crawler Brushless System = Hella long run times! As for truck IDK. Both the trucks you mention are duel motor trucks, and may not get along well with only one motor, i guess you could do two batteries and 2 motors, but that may not be within reason for your budget...
I would recommend going with a 2WD stadium truck, they are lighter and will increase your run time, plus cheaper than doing 2 motors and 2 batteries.

no...any truck geared correctly on 45 or 35 turn lathe motor will last a long time with simple 3000mah or better packs that's the easiest way and the lighter the better....less weight, less struggle for the motors, less amp draw
