Hi

I have all brushless and lipos in my helis and planes so I want to start off this way in my buggy.

Do any of the top 4WD buggies stand out because they are easier to fit a Brushless and Lipos? That is they are more lipo and brushless ready.

It seems that the brushless ESC's are BIG so harder to find room and there are 3 (or 4) wires from motor to ESC.

Saddle pack lipos are available so no real problem with the 3+3 layout.

What about weight distribution? All current buggies are designed for SubC packs which are more than 100gm heavier for the same mAh capacity (4900).

What thoughts?

Thanks Jeff

Considering he's talking about 6 cell saddle packs, he's talking 'bout 10th :)

One isnt any easier than the other, but if you want an amazing buggy then I vote JConcepts BJ4.

Ive owned 3 xx4's, 2 xxx4's, and now the BJ4 and i find its not only easier to drive, but it breaks less and it is more efficiant. A guy at my track runs one with the maxamps lipo saddle pack and he as no problems at all.

I've got 6 cell saddle packs in my 1/8 buggy ( 2 x 3s1p A123) smartass

I've got a XX4 which probably has the least amount of room out of any 1/10 4wd and I"m running the Mamba 5700 with stock length wires and I just bought Maxamps 3300 saddle packs which are smaller in every dimension than sub-c's, room won't be a problem. I also have a 2 cell li-ion saddle pack from A123 ( about 6 oz) , which weighs 10 oz less than my IB 4200 sub-c's . The Maxamps weigh about 7 oz.

With the li-ion cells, I have to add 10oz of weight to my car for it be legal for the Pro Series ( 57 oz for 4wd buggy). I'll just keep the weight in the car since the lipos are only about 1 oz more.

I've been playing with this set-up for a while. An Academy SB V2, Mamba Max ESC, Himax 2825-4400kv Motor, Tanic 3S 3650m mAh battery. Power is WAY more than useable, even on our high traction indoor dirt. The slipper could not hold the torque, even cranked down fully. I have 100% punch control on the ESC, throttle speed control on my radio and the EPA turned down to about 80%. Weighing in at 1526 grams, it handles great.

Only downside of this car is the stock shocks. B4 shocks took care of the problem.

Why don't you use your eyes before running your mouth. If you re-read the original post, it is plainly obvious he is talking about vehicles allready set up for batteries. Nowhere did he mention converting a nitro.

Thanks for the replies and sorry about any confusion.

Yes, 1/10 scale 4WD buggy. Favourites at the moment Lazer ZX5 (price) and can add KM Concepts conversion, Tamiya TRF501X, X5, BJ4WE, new Hot Bodies - Cyclone D4.

Still looking at what the total costs are with "required" upgrades and spare parts availability etc..

Which would fit the Lipos and Brushless ESC best?

I vote BJ4WE... just a matter of putting it all in and mounting. Nothing custom should need to be done. Id take the BJ4 over any of the others due to durability and performance. Out of the gus running 4wd at my local track 5 of us are running BJ4's(one guy running the 4400 max amps lipo) and one guy running XX4WE. Ive drivin BJ4, XX4, and XXX4 and I prefer the BJ4.
