I didn't know if this should go in the nitro or electric forum, so I posted it here. My question is: is it safe to use "nitro cleaner" on my Orion method r v2 motor? I dont see much of a difference between electric motor cleaner and nitro cleaner, but I dont want to risk damaging the motor. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it's safe. For a cheaper alternative, just go to your local AutoZone or even WalMart and get some brake parts cleaner. Who cares if your house's pipes corrode/dissolve. You'll have a clean motor! :)

ROFL yea...

the "motor cleaners" and "nitro cleaners" are pretty much the same stuff...both a basic degreasing agent just like brake cleaner...Dont know if you have WD40 in the states but thats also pretty good.

yeah we have wd-40 here. Wouldn't it attract dirt in the motor though?

take the motor appart (if you can) and spray each part out, then clean it off with a rag of some sort.
That way all the crap doesnt get in the way of stuff and keeps the motors running smoothly...

If you blast it in and then assemble and install the motor instantaneously then yea...more often than not it will dry out before its back in the car.

i dont like to use wd40 too much cause it leaves a greasy film on everything and it doesnt evaporate. nitro cleaner doesnt leave anything behind and it evaporates

Just make sure to use a little lube where you need it before you run it after cleaning. I've heard a few motors make some really unusual noises when run dry after a cleaning that didn't include re-oiling.

yea you should always re-oil.
All the solvents that have just been said are degreasants so they remove all the oil, (except WD40 which does leave a little oil behind) so oiling after use is a MUST!

If you get brake cleaner use non-chlorinated or it will eat up most plastic and remove paint.
