I have been dwelling over at another forum site and have been disgusted with how people type there. I wrote a really long thread explaining that how people type and how they carry themselves directly reflects on the hobby and the people who enjoy the hobby. I was getting really tired of reading posts such as this......
"i dont know wut u mean my jato is fast az heck." or
"can u plz tel mu wut siping means??"
My entire topic eventually got deleted and I was warned about it, because I stated that the people who type like that are coming off as only having a 5th grade education. I then explained that there is no way that they have a fifth grade education because of how technical our hobby is and that they need to show that.
At least here you can make sense of the posts and don't have to stare at them for 5 minutes to try and comprehend what they are saying.

i agree some people really do do it on purpose to write like that just to save a bit of energy by missing on letter... mistakes i dont mind at all and i dont mind the odd abbreviation but for every single word its gets stupid..

You have to remember friend that a lot of the posters on rc car forums are in the 5th grade....regardless that's no excuse.I'm with you however....poor spelling and "Leet/text speak" are signs of damaged or simply lazy brains.
Peace

I don't think the average 5th grader should have access to the internet, let alone forums of any kind. (parent in me talking :D )

I dislike reading poor spelling and grammar, but usually just deal with it, since people get offended when it's pointed out to them. I'm to the point of almost preferring texting type of messages than someone's poor attempt at spelling it out. I'd rather see "ur welcome" than "your welcome" (in case you're wondering, it should be "you're welcome", but who cares, right ?).
Anyway, welcome fellow Washingtonian.

Whoa; How do you know what he was spelling? Maybe he meant that there was a bridge over a engineered wall retaining water, otherwise known as a dam.
Welcome to the forums Billdo; I think once you've been here for a while (like 2 days) you will notice that the boards have their own set of rampant smarta$$'s and people that are always correct. Once you get used to it, the arguments and discussion is usually entertaining. It seems like you will fit in with 1/3rd of the population that actually cares about spelling and punctuation. Once every two months we have a planned excursion into La La Land and we all dream about a perfect world where everyone can spell and read and write and then the group collectively pinches themselves and we realize it will never happen. Either way, stick around and have fun.

"Darn" and "dang" work as nice substitutes too.:D
Anyways, welcome billdo. I'm not going to say anything about how people type and construct sentences online...I already did that here (needless to say, my thread was a big can of worms....). :D
So yeah, welcome!
