View Full Version : Wanna-Be-Scaler.....Clod Crawler

He is my newest Crawler. I have always like the scale look. But I didn't have any TLT or Bruiser axles laying around. So I just just an extra set of Clod axles and made myself a 12.5in Pimp Cane chassis. Painted it Black with a Hammered Texture. So this should perform like a Pimp Cane but look alot like a Scaler. So I call this my Want-a-Be...

Specs:
Axle-Clods, Locked with Bearings
Chassis- 2.2 12.5in Pimp Cane
ESC- XL-5
Servo- Tower Pro MG995
Radio Gear- TQ3
Tires- Imex Swamp Dawgs filled with AirSoft BB's
Wheels- Double Narrowed peds with Jp Custom Rok Rings
Body- Hpi Jeep Ruby

I painted this a little different then most guys do.

I saw that thread on rccrawler and i thought it was a scale truck. I never knew it was a pimp cane. That surprised me just now. How is the rust supposed to work? Is the yellow is on the outside? I can't tell if it is. Nice job.

Edit: And btw, you probably know this already, but a rubicon has round headlights. :) Why is there square ones?

I have a YJ so I made them Squared. Ya the Yellow is painted on the outside of the body. The browns, Reds, Silvers are painted on th inside. So the more I wheel it the more it gets beat up. The better it will look.

Ok, that is what i thought. I'm still surprised that it isn't a true scale truck. I never would have guessed it was a pimp cane.

I love this truck, and I also like that we got more pics here than on rccrawler! i wish my crawler was moving along faster(read: at all) so I could order my Pimp Cane.

We don't have more pics on here than rc crawler, BELIEVE ME. There are tons of them. Just click on forums and check out all the threads. TONS of pics.

I meant of this truck, I saw his thread over there too. The main reason i usually go over there is to check out all the pics of the amazing work you guys do. I'm hooked on the MAN 8x8.

Awesome! My dad and I rebuilt a '76 CJ5 some years ago with a spring-over. Great looking build!

I love this project. It inspired me to try a similar paint job on a Goliath Rock Crawler body. The scale details are great, I can't wait to see it after it sees use.
Without sounding like a picky a$$hole maybe you should have painted the area behind the fender extension black since these are black plastic mostly.

Which pimp cane is this? Is it the small cane or the larger one? I remember that I bought the small version. Well built too bro.
Just read that it's the 12.5 like mine. You have made me start looking to buy some more axles for my pimp cane. I hope to get my ride half as nice as yours. Any word on those canoes?

Why are you getting rid of it? You didn't even get to scratch the nice yellow paint.

Ya I know...I'm leaving for vacation and spent to much money on other items. So I need to sell it. And when I get back I'll start another Scaler project.

Hopefully this is going to be a "true" scaler, and not a wanna-be. I could see it being awesome, considering how scale you made this one, which is far from "true" scale.
