The only thing I would recommend is to get the aluminum inner shaft with Aluminum head (# EFLH 1240 )

Sounds good....what does it do, or assist with? Just curious....

It's common that the stock plastic head breaks fairly easily, especially in the area of the linkage to the flybar. With this you won't see that problem.

Sounds good. Any place besides eBay for 18.89$ shipped for part?

I usually have my sources for Car stuff, but new to Heli's... :D

I need a body kit as well, as the seller said it had some cracks in it.....figured it would make a good "trainer" body :D

Sweet! I just checked the ebay auction of the one I bought, and it has this part already included! :D

"extra inner shaft (aluminum upgrade $23)"

Awesome! :D

For helicopter stuff I usually always buy from HeliDirect. They've got a huge selection of parts, many I didn't even knew existed, and have great customer service, and quick and cheap shipping. Can't go wrong with them :)

aluminum inner shaft, aluminum lower head, aluminum heat sink!!!!! after that, you are pretty set.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to get, was the heat sink as well. Comes with 2 LiPo's as well, so won't be totally bored waiting for charging.

Will check out HeliDirect now :D

The heatsink will help out with motor heat alot, and you wont notice a drop off in power as temps rise. The inner shaft is a blessing,...the lower head, well, you will see. its like running with one foot cut off when one of those little nubs break off, and they will. She will handle with all the grace of a 3-legged cow.

I concur. I broke this part the first day I used my CX2.

The lower head broke? I'm just taking notes on what to order for parts....I'm ordering the heatsink for sure.

Grab an aluminum lower head as well,....it will save you the aggrivation.Granted, not cheap, but, wtih the heat sink, upper head, lower head, your woes should be over.

Got my Heli today....all looked good except it could use a new body....I guess I should have realized it would be very thin, to save weight.

Has a bunch of spare parts as well, so I should be good for a while. I'll prob charge a battery up later, and see what it does....

Do all the CX parts fit the CX2?
yes, the only difference between the two is the cx2 has dsm radio gear

If e-flite reads this forum how about an outdoor version of the Blade cx? The addictive thing I find about the bcx is the stability, good looks and the snappy tail response (if you overlook the tail drift). The outdoor version (to me, but what do I know?) would have a much larger size, brushless motors, a 4-in-one unit with cooling fins and a circuit-breaker, much wider and longer stance in the landing gear (proportionately), and coaxial rotor and shaft assemblies that are easily removable as a single unit and replaced ( sort of in a way as a rechargable glow plug battery pops off a glow plug)in the field. Man, talk about a major addiction! It would be nice to buy a new heli because it's plain worn out instead because its too busted up to fix anymore. Well, I would settle for brushed motors with standard heat sinks. Next major hurdle will be affordability...

The problem with the counter rotating design is that they will never be able to handle light winder very well. You have to look into collective pitch helies to handle the outdoors. They make a Blade CP even a pro version which can be upgraded to brushless.

Youcan check these lama 2 aluminum parts (http://www.hj2k.com/store/products.php?cat=62&pg=2) , they may be good for the cx2

^ ^ ^ No, don't do that, critical Lllama parts won't fit a BCX. :( Esky parts across the board *look* close to Eflite but they are not. You may get one or two to fit, like maybe landing gear, but it's not worth the grief. Been here with CPs.

The problem with the BCX outdoors is because it's so light. I fly mine outdoors all the time, but if there is even a hint of wind, it's too risky. Especially since if it's breezy at ground level, it's far worse at 50 feet.

Let me define "hint": If you can see leaves blowing on trees, that's *more* than a hint. We have chimes all around outside. If they are ringing at all, it's too windy.

Anyway it's useful to know that Horizon Hobby is the distributor for *all* Eflite products, and any shop who sells Eflite stuff buys it from them, so it's not likely you'll see different prices from a legitimate shop (by that I mean as opposed to a rogue eBay seller abusing a wholesaler's license.) You might find a place that will cut you a better break on shipping.

we fly only out doors with blade cx2's the trick to making it a out door machine is the set up and the parts you use....

have a look at cryohobby all new stuff for making the cx and cx2 a out door machine .... we use 3 companys stuff to make the change and then set it up just right for out door use.... xtreme, microheli, cryohobby.

any way hope the info helps....

i just bought my first heli, blade cx2. As others I am wondering about upgrades. How about the extreme 180 bearing motors? Also, does anybody know of a better mAh battery, or can you series them? i know nothing about lipos, gotta do some learning about them too. i would just like longer run times. How about this one? http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=2108 . im assuming that the blade cx and blade cx2 charger are the same? It states that this battery comes with balance connector that directly fits Stock Blade CX balance Chargers. thank you for your help and my boss thanks you too. lol

Honestly, you're better off sticking with the stock setup - it's pretty well equipped right out of the box. Don't focus on improving the heli, instead work on improving your skills. Fly the heck out of it, and when one of the motors finally goes south then start looking at upgrades. By that time, however, you'll probably be looking at an intermediate heli.

Spend your money on aluminum upper and lower heads, a heat sink, and a prop balancer. If the head is nicely balanced and you fly without training gear, you should get at least 10 minutes of flight time. If you install a boom style tail, you'll gain another minute or so.

There are some excellent free mods you can do that will improve performance as well. Cut/drill/Dremel a few cooling holes in the canopy, and take the 4-in-1 out of the plastic case and mount it directly on the frame with servo tape. These mods will help keep the electronics cool, which greatly reduces tail drift and can also help with toiletbowling. Once you feel your skill has progressed a little, remove the brass weights from the flybar (and/or shorten it) and move the control linkages out one hole on the servo horns. Two holes generally seems to be a little more than the CX/CX2 can handle, so stick with one. To help reduce blade clash with this new setup, you can dampen the flybar by putting some tiny pieces of packing foam in the upper head.

I hope this helps. I've had my CX for almost 2 years now and I still fly it all the time. :D

One of the best upgrades you can make is the superskids they are truly unbreakable! can't remember who sells them but they make the unbreakable battery tray as well. I can't tell you how many skids I broke learning to fly this little helo, but I bought the unbreakable skids for it and have yet to break them! they cost almost as much as 3 pairs of stock skids but well worth it.
