Hey folks,

I just picked up a used Saito FA-80 from a friend. He had taken it apart, and putting it back together didn't get the timing lined up right. So I'm in the process of dismantling it to straighten things out and get it running. I'm trying to find a gasket kit for it, the ones it has are toast.

I was also thinking of setting the parts of it in a light degreaser before re-assembling, any thoughts on that?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris,

I wouldn't use degreasers on any glow engines but if you insist, make sure they are not oil based and remove all non metal parts first. Also, don't leave the parts to soak there for days, a cuople of hours is enough. I prefer using methanol for cleaning my engines and even then I remove non metal parts before soaking for a short time.
As for Saito parts (gaskets or other), Horizon usually have it all but I found http://www.advantagehobby.com to be the best source. Prices are good service is great and they have a very useful parts search tool.

Hope this helps, Saito rule!
