It must have eloped with my Baby Phoenix. It thermaled away about forty years ago.
Made me a believer in DT timers.

Years ago I sent up a playboy Jr,049 . The engine quit on time but the thermal had it. 4 days later it landed in a guys driveway 12 miles away , rain soaked and shredded, but the name and phone was still legible. He said it came in and skidded up to the door nice as you please. Go Figure. But then there are a few others still up there somewhere. Bob

My Baby Phoenix was powered by a Babe Bee .049. I would put 5 pumps of fuel in the tank with my Austin fuel can pumper and get about ten to twelve seconds of motor run.
On this occaision one of my Ukie flying "buddies" was with me and after I fueled her up and turned my back to go to my flight box for the starting battery he grabbed the can and filled the tank. She flew power on for ages and was a speck in the sky when the engine quit. after gliding around in big left hand circles down to about 150 ft she caught a thermal and climbed back up and was still climbing when she disappeared.
For years I had the feeling that if you found Amelia Erhart you'd find my Phoenix.
