The new release of the Spektrum Air Module Systems has be much anticipated and hoped for in the model jet community. These guys put a lot of time and effort building these scale beauties and they invest a ton of money for all the components that help give these jets their outstanding power. Having a solid radio link from the ground to the cockpit is mandatory.
The new connection.
While Spektrum radios have been available for a little while now, it does not meet up to the demanding requirements of the turbine jet. Most jet models need more than a 7 channel receiver and while the Spektrum DX7 does have a fair amount of programming, it just doesn’t meet up with the standard mixes needed for turbine flying.
The new Module Systems can be used on most radio systems that are currently in use by the jet community. The Spektrum module just plugs into the space on the back of the radio and the new antenna is attached to the transmitter and you’re ready to go. In most cases this takes less then five minutes to make the conversion. Now all of your radio’s transmissions are on 2.4GHz with built-in collision avoidance software that prevents another radio from operating on the same frequency. Now there is no need to wait for an open frequency you can just fly and not worry about any interference from other flyers. The best part is that all of your radio programming in your old radio is there for you to use, no need to re-program.
The new AR9000 receiver comes with two main receivers and antennas built into the casing and one remote receiver that plugs into the receiver body. There is an additional receiver plug so you can plug in a fourth remote receiver for planes like high-performance jets. This allows the AR9000 to see more of the broadcast signal than ever possible before, providing the most precise control and locked-in feel from any radio system out there. To fine tune the placement of all of these receivers you can use the new flight log that utilizes a data port on the receiver. The flight log will indicate if there has been any data loss in any of the 4-receivers. This allows you to adjust their placement until everything is tuned to perfection.
Look for these new Modules in early May. For more information check out the Spektrum web site at spektrumrc.com.
