I have a clod and i was wondering any FREE mods that i can do to it so it will have more flex. i already have diffs locked, a new speed controller, and servos mounted on the axles. everything else is stock. thanks.

Stock chassis....no.

I guess you could remove one spring from each corner of the truck. That might help flex a bit.

That isn't going to get more flex, if that is what he is asking. It will just make it softer. I am not sure which one you want to know. But i don't know of any ways to get a clod more flex, other than new chassis and some other stuff.

I guess I should have said it would help axle articulation, not flex as it were.

Well it's not Free but for $47 bucks you can get a Pimp Cane Chassis. Sell the Stock stuff to pay for it. Thats free in a way. Sell that Stock Body and get a Lexan one. Those to things will Make it a crawling machine.

Yes! i would be able to attest to that if I weren't such a procrastinator. I have a feeling it will be a long time before I give run2jeepin that $46.50. Sadface.

i agree the pimp cane is the way to go. but if your dead broke and want to try to build something good go to home depot and for like 8-12 dollars you can get some C or U channel and try to make a stick type chassis yourself. you just have to figure out how to mount it to your axles.

The Alumn you get from Home Depot and lowes will break and bend really fast. There Alumn isn't quality Alumn. The first foot could be good then the next foot could have small Air Bubbles in it and cause it to bend easier in that same spot. Everyone always tries to copy the Crawler Stores Stick and The Pimp Cane, but not many have ever really done a good job. The Alumn used in the Pimp Cane was researched, tested and Studied. Then tested again. But you can try to build your own just to save 20 bucks or so. I'll find yourself tearing you rig apart replacing the Chassis. If your dead broke building a Crawler just isn't for you yet. Save your money and build it right.

Im a pimp cane owner (original) before it changed hands and no way am I putting it down but the material made to make the chassis is hardware store material that can be purchased for about 18.00. I have built many with the same material and it does the exact same thing on the rocks. It looks the same and weighs the same when cut at the same length. I have to say that it is a genius design and a money maker, I wish I would have came up with it first because the profit margin must be great.

run2jeepn. we know you sell the pimp cane and its a great chassis, tested and tried. i own 2 of them myself and am very happy with them. however mikeco said he does not have the money to buy a chassis, and knocking home depot and lowes material isn't going to change his mind and make him purchase your product. i gave him sound advice, buy some C / U channel and try building something himself. its a good start for someone on a budget. i suggest if you want to pimp your products go back to rccrawler.com or purchase advertising on rccaraction.com, don't knock on people that cant afford your products.

I'm not pimping my Stuff. Just stating facts. I haven't listed a price or said a website or how to buy one. He wanted something Free and was just stating how it could get a good crawler for Free. I don't see him Selling the body and being able to buy any other chassis on the market. Thats way I said what I did. But to each there own. Peace

IMO, the pimp cane is the best and cheapest chassis for a comp clod. And when i say cheap, not like quality cheap, like money wise. It is a very durable chassis, very simple, and performs great. What else do you want out of a chassis? I know that if i ever get a clod, it is going to be the pimp cane. Or the hustler if i can afford it, no offense run2jeep.

Edit: And brandonw, i think you need to lay off run2jeep, his chassis is cheap and maybe he thought that you need to spend hundreds on a chassis to be good. So maybe he said free because he didn't know about the pimp cane and didn't know you could get a chassis for so cheap.

If you have a Stock Chassis, I can make Chassis braces that make the chassis alot stonger, and the rear mounts you can make 2. both out of stop sign gauge metal :)

after i posted this thread i thought of some ideas and well i got a lot more flex out of it. i looked at the shocks and took off the rubber stopper and realized that the shocks dont go all the way to the top. soo...i took the shock cap off and cut the clip and drilled it out so the shock shaft went all the way to the top. also with all the new travel i had to cut the chassis so the servo had clearence.

....well so i guess i proved you all wrong. :D

Here are pics.....i hope they work this is the first time i've ever put pics on the forum. :(

this is my clod (http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s294/mikeco_bucket/?action=view&current=IMG_0549.jpg)

This is what America is "was" about. If you can't afford it, build it. That’s how we all learn. MAKE IT. If it doesn't work then you can decide to buy it. And at the end of the day you will have learned something about how things work. I say, go for it mikeco, what you've got looks good, besides its about having fun.... that's it. That said, there are some excellently engineering products out there worth every penny.
