Hey, my grandpa gave this helecoper to me and it looks old. He used to fly it, but can't see very well anymore and gave it to me. It is a Kyosho, and i don't know a lot about it. I have never flown a helecopter before, and plan on getting a trainer first. It has an engine and he gave me a really expensive radio system. It is either never used, or only used a few times and kept in really good condition. I would just like to know some info about it. Here is the pics.

Hi savage100,
This is going to sound like bad news, but I am trying to prevent you from getting mired down in a losing battle.
In it's day, it might have been something. But today, the radio system is pretty much bottom end. It is a non-programmable, 4 channel transmitter. It's best use is as a dummy box for the free FMS simulator. Oh, I am sure that it would fly a park flyer plane quite nicely, but for a modern heli, you need more functionality than this transmitter can deliver.
As for the heli, keep it as a remembrance of Grandpa's participation in the hobby. If you want to learn to fly helis, a modern heli with a modern transmitter is the way to go. There are complete combos available for workable electric helis (Blade CP Pro and others). The T-Rex 450 is a great machine. Or if you have room to fly a nitro powered heli, the Hirobo Sceadu 50 or Raptor 50 are fantastic machines.
I know several people who have received free gifts like this, or bought very cheap used machines. The ones who tried to make a go of it with these older machines found out that parts availability was almost non-existent, and they spent much more money trying to use the free equipment than if they had purchased new.

If you are still interested in flying helis, I can go into more detail on how to do so.

I just noticed in the transmitter picture that you have a manual for a different transmitter. The transmitter is a 4 channel, basic transmitter. The manual is for a 7 channel heli transmitter. Is the 7U transmitter included in your gift? While that is still an older transmitter, it does have some heli-programming on it.

Yeah, i realized that after i took a pic. And i don't really plan on flying it anywhere other than a park or do crazy stunts. I am going to keep it for sure, but i am not going to get another one. This will work for me untill i get really into it.
