Tinting Canopies?

Hi All,
For years I have tinted canopies with the tried and true Rit dye and hot water method. However of late I can't get any new canopies to accept any color. Have kit makers gone to a differant plastic? Like my new sailplane canopy, I can stick it in a tub of Rit for days, yet the color will not be accepted. Any ideas?

I use the Tamiya Smoke (PS-31) spraypaint on the inside of the canopy. for a light tint just use one coat of paint. To get a darker tint just keep adding more coats.

I took your advice John. I picked up a can of Pactra Candy Apple Blue, which said it is a transparent paint. Sure enough, one pass applied a nice blue tint. Perfect!

good. if you want it darker, just add another coat and you can actually get it all the way to black.
