I just got this spy camera (http://www.raidentech.com/24ghzmiwicoc.html) for my rc car and the picture gets some static about 10ft away in the house. Is it normal to get that much static indoors? I've seen some clips of ppl flying their rc planes nearly a block away in a field without a hint of interference (they carried their cam's receiver with them to the field I'm assuming). I'm not able to bring the set outside as I don't have a laptop or camcorder, so could anyone who've used these cams share their experience indoors?

Here's a clip (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FEJTASD1) of mine. Nothing special, on a dying battery and just went 2 circles around the house. It's a lot better here than my campus apartment...

I got something kinda similar to that.
Mine would do the same thing indoors. It's about the same case with my r/c electronics though. If I get my micro-t or my Mini-T more than about 10-20 feet away inside, they glitch like crazy. Outside, they go as far as I want/need them to, but indoors it gets kinda hairy. It's the same thing that happens with the cameras. Radio waves bouncing off of stuff everywhere causes interference, as well as TVs, radios, air conditioning, heater, anything really. Outside, there's not as much crud for the waves to bounce off of, so we get better signals. The planes get REALLY good signals because they're off of the ground. It makes a big difference.

Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't - but the dying battery does not help, the signal gets very weak as the battery drops.

It will always be worse with that 802 series, and those receivers are not the greatest. Scroll down to the 809 (http://www.chimaxco.com/wireless200mW.htm) - you will get a better reception with the 809 series. Stateside they are released as the SecurityMan Air Watch but make sure it's a real SecurityMan - many eBay hosers are using that as a keyword and it's these same crap-cams.

The SecurityMan has a much better receiver and it has 4 DIP switches for 4 channels, and you can set the DIP's on the cams - literally switch between 4 cams at once. I have had "decent" luck with the 802's though - Sportwerks Buggy Cam (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=215126).

Sorry, meant my car's battery pack was low, not the cam's.

So the signal quality is determined mostly by the receiver, not the cam's? Are there specs I should look at to determine a good receiver - signal to noise ratio, frequency, video input/output, etc? I couldn't tell what model my receiver is, or any other for that matter, so how can I tell I'm getting a good one?
