Went to the hobby shop and couldnt pass it up. I figured the price wasn't bad for a starter boat. I have heard good things and bad. This is the later model and, by the reviews, its supposed to have most of the bugs worked out by now. We'll see....I guess.
This isn't my firts nitro. Does anyone have any tips for a Nitro boat newb?
Is the heat cycle method recommended for breaking in boat motors? The guy at the LHS told me to just put it in the watter and vary the throttle fome 1/4 to 3/4 throttle for a few tank fulls.
Thanks in advance!

Alright well if this is your first boat then your going to want to take it easy and cheak everything first with the boat. Bolts, nuts, water tight radio box, all electronics working properly along with doing a distance check on the radio. Now the motor needs to be broken in properly other wise that .15 will never run smooth. Mine of 5 years still runs smooth and only changed glow plugs.
Just keep the motor rich for about 3 or 4 gas tanks and use 30% nitro in it.
As you run it keep the motor high in the turns and let off the throttle in the straights. This will give it good variations that is needed with ABC motors. Just don't full throttle the little guy just yet, I know its tempting.
Now ABC's can be tricky to start every time due to the compression rate. If so loosen up your glow plug about an eighth of a turn and the put the glow starter on. After it is running tighten it back down.
Make sure to use after run oil in the motor every time your done with the boat or 3 in one oil or corrosion x. Take the glow plug out and turn the motor over with one of these oils in it and then put some extra in at the end so its always lubed up.
When tuning the motor out make sure that you only touch the high speed needle and turn it about an eighth of a turn while the motor is floored. Then plop it in the water and you should be good to go. Every time your down to a half tank or so turn it another eighth.
My motor runs great at about one and half turns open but other than that I have others that run at 1 3/4 sometimes 2 depending on the weather.
Good luck.
