It's Lightning McQueen from the movie "Cars".... not just lightning. It's a "Cars" the movie theme....

Well, I didn't see anything in this thread about the rules.
I don't read the rules, because I'm not competing.
But, I do apreciate you telling them to me.
After reading them, I think Blue_Dawg's theme, follows the rules better.

Maybe I'm going crazy, but how the heck is that Lightning Mcqueen? I did a google search, and it showed a RED car with no middle stripe. The only resemblance I saw was the side, and thats in a different color. That can't possibly count as a Cars/Lightning Mcqueen theme.

No offense taken Fester. That is honestly the first R/C body I have ever painted. I am just saying that I am trying to build a rep for painting bodies b/c I want to seriously get into selling eventually. If ppl think I am dishonest, I will never be able to sell bodies.

I would not have entered this body into the contest this month if it didn't actually have a theme, and I don't understand why ppl keep saying that I don't have a theme, or that I just made up a theme once there was a question about my theme. The lightning bolts are an exact copy of the bolts on the lightning McQueen car, and I have never stated otherwise.

As far as my experience goes, I have airbrushed for a while. I have painted textiles, and a couple of helmets. This is my first try at R/C bodies.

After all this grief that I am getting from so many, I am wondering if I should ever touch another R/C body again.

Wow, I see my comments have started some controversy and the voting is really close (27-26). I too had forgotten that LMcQ is blue at the end. Tonight when I can actually see the bodies ill take a closer look at blue_dawg's entree and probably start a new poll.

If my theme is not good enough, I would also be happy to withdrawal my body, and just enter it in next months contest.

I finally got a chance to take a look at this thread when I can see the pictures and take a closer look at the blue lightning mcqueen.

My intention for this poll was to unanimously declare Fester the winner and allow blue_dawg to enter in May's competition. So yes the poll was skewed for fester to win. Before I get a bunch of hate mail and people sware off the competitions please let me explain myself.

Each month we get a few new people. I love seeing their work no matter what level, and its been fun watching a few people post the worst bodies ive ever seen; and being able to follow along though the months and years as they develope and turn out true works of art. However, in the restricted months we get tons of new people posting without reading a single word of the rules post. Blue_dawg, your body looks great and I wish my first looked half that good (i couldnt even keep the window mask of my single color job from bleeding!). Unfortuntately you took the brunt of my tongue in cheek poll question, If you stick around I think you will find me to be very fair and even handed, at least thats my goal. I still fail to see how a similarly shaped silver pattern lacking the pinstriping with an extra racing stripe comprises a lightning mcqueen theme. It may have been the inspiration for the design, but it is not the theme. I encourage you to reenter the body in may's competition and if this month's voting is any indiction, you will do well.

I am taking back my previous promise of redoing the poll because I believe it is comparing apples and oranges. I have obviously learned my lesson about joking around with the poll questions and will not do it in the future. Fester, you are the winner. Congrats, I hope all this fuss does not cheapen it for you. Blue_dawg, you have my sincerest appologies and I hope we can see more of you around here in the future.

I deleted the post because of this:

not because of your support for blue_dawg. The reason I deleted it, and now the reason im reposting it, is because I will not stand for unconstructive criticism, ever! I never have and never will. If you have a problem, either be part of the solution or dont complain. Recently we have had two months with some controversy, both having to do with the interpritation of the restrictions. Im going to give the restrictions one more chance, if things continue to go badly I will make every competition open.

Oooooo, Mini-T got game, and he's right! If you had wanted to do a "Cars" theme, it should have been the red / yellow version. Whatever. blue_dawg, your body looks good and we all look forward to seeing more bodies from you as you become a more skilled painter of RC bodies, but for now, you lose :). The 'theme' was pretty weak, and the confederate flag theme was much more obvious and difficult to execute, so even if it were not a theme month, he would have won. Sorry.

Now blue_dawg, get back to work on some new l337 bodies for upcoming competitions! +1

If you want to flame each other then go do it with PM’s or better yet just don’t type anything. Another thing to think about is how do you expect other forum members to vote or even come over to the paint forums if all you are going to do flame each other about something pointless.
