Man, I've seen a few lame attempts at the Mad Max Pursuit Special (that's the black car's real name)
I'd like to see:
Goose's bike
Pursuit Special - version 1 (clean) + version 2 (dirty + rear tanks)
(XB Coupe)
Yellow MFP Pursuit
(XA Sedan)
Yellow MFP Interceptor
(XB Coupe)
Night Rider's Pursuit Special (with all the dents)
(HQ Monaro Coupe)
Now that would be COOL

It would be cool, but it would be tough for a company to do well and make money at. Falcon XB GTs have a decent following downunder, but it was a rare car and most consumers in the US haven't a clue. I just did a Quick Look on a slightly modified 1:24 XB from Australian mfr Models 56 in the Summer 07 issue, but its the first new casting I've seen in a while.
Max's pursuit special had a bunch of body mods -- sort of the '70s equivalent of the "Fast and Furious" treatment, which pretty much means any casting used would have to be a one-off -- no easy option for a stock XB GT version to help pay for tooling costs. Supposedly the company that did that fiberglass nose went out of business years ago, so getting accurate specs on the thing would be a challenge.
And who knows what would be involved in securing licensing rights for a low-budget independent film from Australia made 30 years ago.
And all that is just for the famous main car. The odds of getting any of the supporting cast cars -- the yellow std pursuit cars or the Night Rider's pilfered Holden -- are long indeed.
I'd love it if someone tried to pull it off -- I'd certainly buy the lot if they were well done.

AUTOart has just released the Pursuit Special in 1:18. This is the Road Warrior-spec version with twin jumbo fuel tanks in place of the rear deck and the interior hollowed out for Dog (a figure of whom is included -- along with a case of Dinky-Di).
The car is really well detailed -- look for photos in the next issue.
