This is only the 3rd body I've painted, and the first I used my airbrush on. Its' my Hellfire SS. I really like the look of the body to begin with so I decided to get a little brave, but nothing too crazy. I used liquid mask for the tear effect...which was an incredibly stupid idea. Lesson learned. It pulled up some parts of the paint, but still came out pretty good. Colors used were:

Faswhite, Faspearl Key Lime, Pactra Metallic Black, Spaz Stix Blue/Purple/Red color change backed with fasblack (I should have used something like chrome between the Color change and the black I think)

Pulling the liquid mask off wasn't terribly easy. I wasn't able to put as much on as I would have liked as HPI pre drilled the mounting holes and pre-cut the other parts as well. Getting around the edges of the different paint colors was annoying. It didn't rip off so I had to kind of pull it up or scratch it off with a toothpick. You can see places like the front right corner of the windshield where some of the black was ripped off amongst other places. It also go pretty edgy around the windows. Should have just torn masking tape. It was a good learning experience though. Looking forward to painting some more up

It looks nice. The mask needed to be thicker.

Yep, the liquid mask wasn't thick enough. But you are right, with the scheme that you did on that body it would have been easier and more cost effective to just use masking tape. I generally use tape unless the scheme is a more complicated one.

I think the body looks really good though. We are always our own toughest critics.

The part I have the most trouble with is coming up with a design. I was never really a good artist so the creativity thing is tough for me. I have a steady hand so I feel like if I put the time in I could probably get good at it. Anyone have any links with good practice tips...for starting preferably?
