Hey, guys.
So when you fade colors do you let your first color dry first - or do you try to spray your second color ASAP while your first color is still wet?
Thanks, guys.

I do it when it is some what set but not fully dry. This way it doesn't do anything wierd when they are both wet and it also lets both paints bond with each other before they completely dry. It really doesn't make too much of a difference but does have a slight affect.

well, see I have always let it completely dry and I usually have slight speckleyness in my fades when it's all done. I think if I sprayed my second color when it's still a little wet the paints might mix a little on the body and the speckleyness wouldn't be as noticable.
You can barely see it, but if you look real close it's noticable.

Experiment with it on a scrap piece of lexan or a 2 liter bottle. I don't like spraying the 2nd color when I'm using fascolor because the colors seem to mix in strange ways.

Another thing is to not get so close with the sprayer (sprayer meaning either can or airbrush). You want to angle the sprayer so that the fade that is the deepest for that color is closest to the body (but still not too close) and the fade that is the least shade of that color is the farthest from the body. I have an airbrush so I don't have a speckle problem. I would also say that if it is not acrylic paint, it could do that too. Lacquer is especially bad for speckles.

I let the paint before I do any other spraying.... Seems to work well for me, 4 colors were used in this fade.

MAXXTRAX:
I had a customer that wanted a fire job on the front of their Revo body, so I tried your 4 color fade of white, yellow, orange, and red; all I can say is, that seems the way to do it. Body turned out great, I will try and get pics of it soon.
Nice work.

I used to do yellow, to orange, and then to a slightly deeper orange that I mixxed myself. It worked, but it took time and wasn't nearly as good as the 4 color way. I like easier and better, its seems to just... work : )

I have to admit though, I probobly had too much white. I didn't know it would show up as well as it did, I figured the other colors would show through a little better. It still looks good, actually it looks like the front is REALLY HOT, because we all know clear and then white are the hottest colors of fire. Its not excessive, but its more than is in your body.
I wonder when the polls will begin in the competition thread? I am anxious because my Mustang body took FOREVER. Although, now that I think about your simpson body, my mustang is punitive : ).
