RC18R Niteline 4WD Onroad Touring Car
The Niteline 18R packs big-time 4WD on road performance into
a mini-sized package!

Based on the original RC18T platform, the 18R features an
Associated Niteline body, 7-spoke wheels and optimized onroad
suspension for superior handling and traction.

The 18R is powered by an inline-mounted “Super 370” highperformance
motor, bolted to an aluminum motor mount with several
mounting holes to fit most after-market 1:18 scale hop-up motors.

The 18R transfers all the power to the ground with its efficient
shaft-drive, 4WD power-train featuring adjustable front and rear ball
differentials.

The 18R suspension absorbs all of the bumps in the road with
oil-filled shocks for smooth and consistent dampening. The four lower
suspension arms are symmetrical and work with the molded upper
suspension links to insure that the 18R’s suspension geometry is
optimum right out of the box.

Team Associated’s “XP” series electronics in the 18R are
completely modular, allowing easy access to the receiver, steering
servo, and the “XPS” electronic speed control with reverse.
If you’re looking for the ultimate mini-4WD onroad car with the big performance thatwill leave the competition in the dust, look no further. Team Associated’s RC18R Nitelineis the car you have been looking for!

This is without a doubt the best looking body so far for the RC18R!

I hope AE gets more out sooner rather than later!

Will the car be close in size to the other 18th scale cars (m18, micro rs4) so you could use a different body?

has any one else made a more versatile platform than the RC18 series? if you buy an RC18, with just a small pile of parts, bodies, and wheels, you can have a monster truck, and truggy, a 4WD buggy, and now an onroad car! 4 vehicles from one chassis, with nothing different but some suspension parts, wheels, and bodies. name one other platform that can do that.

I'll take the OFNA MBX R2 platform for 200, Alex :p. It can be dropped on the ground with some onroad tires, body mounts and slightly shorter shocks for a GTP, left stock for a buggy, or add some wheel extensions and put different wheels/tires/body mounts for a truggy. OFNA is the king of assembly-line products (most of their buggies look almost identical with very small differences) .

But I get your point.:D

I wonder if the guys at Associated designed this "platform" knowing that they would make different versions of it and not tell anyone ahead of time. Meaning that when they had the RC18T on the board, they made the RC18MT, Rally and the Nightline also back then. But then releasing them one by one.

From what I've heard, Associated started with the 18R, but Losi released the Mini-T to huge sales, and Associated slapped on longer arms, bigger tires and taller body posts, and called it the 18T/MT.

Ahh ok. Now all Assosiated needs to do is put 1/10 scale arms and tires chassis, drivetrain and body on it and have a 1/10 scale 4wd buggy heheheh.

Tamiya TL-01... but it isn't very good at doing anything except drifting.

...like my TL-01...
At points in its life it has been a BMW M5 with a HPI Body and wheels, a Chevrolet Silverado truck with HPI body and 2.2" proline dirt hawgs, and a Baja Buggy!

Truthfully, although this may not count. The original RC10 was a host of things that people converted including a onroad car, offroad car, sprint car, modified east coast car, monster truck with a conversion and a 4 wheel drive buggy with that MIP conversion they used to make.

Wow they are just milking this platform.

Will the car be close in size to the other 18th scale cars (m18, micro rs4) so you could use a different body?

The MRS4 and M18 are 1/18th DTM TC size. This is not a true scale 1/18th TC size. Its the rc18r rally car with a new different body. None of the more scaled existing TC and drift bodies for the micro TC 1/18th platforms will fit as the R platform is wider, longer, and uses much larger tires so its body scaling is unique.

This is not a slam, but simply to help alleviate confusion. The platforms are apples to oranges and should not be misunderstood to be direct competitors to one another.

I like how with a little bit of name change and a couple of lines that aren't quite right, they can make any car they want without getting sued!
Go Thunder Tiger!

so what is the main competition for the RC18R? Are we looking towards the X-Ray platforms, or are we looking for the Micro RS4? I feel like because of the initially-offroad-designed chassis would pale in comparison to the low slung lightweight platforms offered by X-Ray, among others. Maybe I'm wrong or approaching this wrong altogether, but I'm unsure of Team Associated's aim here. Don't get me wrong, these things are the definitions of cool.
