I've been out of the hobby for about 30 years but I am getting back in and I am looking for someone who might remember or even have a copy of an article. I believe it was in Model Airplane News back in the mid 70s and the article focused on the planes that were flown and the story behind the Gilmore Lion (oil) aircraft. It had photos and I believe plans on both the Lockheed Vega Air Express (?) and Wedell-Williams "Gilmore - Red Lion" racer.

thanks

Still no luck with the article.

Treechatcher; my old RCM reference file shows an article in the MAN 11/55 for the Lockheed air express and in American Modeler 12/70------and for the Wedell Williams-a 3 view in the 1/71 edition of American Modeler and 3 view info in Man in 3/58, 1/48,& 8/47--no articles listed in MAN
I have at least a "picture" article from the Sept 1979 Scale Modeler, and from a replica red Lion article in Sport Aviation (EAA publiction) April 94------are you searching for plans/pix /articles(reference) or ???????
Cheers

Treecatcher

This is the best info at hand.
Somewhere I have a better set of plans but have not been able to locate all of the 1930 racer plans 3veiws and docs that I have been collecting for 30+years.
Short term memory is even worse!

Pics did not upload--trying again.

OK---did not work again???????????

3 view of Weddell Williams is here
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=845875#post9510984

This is Roscoe's big engine airplane(slower than smaller engine.)

Will also add pic of big and small engine versions and also fuse plan from r/c scale mod.

Hope this helps

I am not very far from museum where 3 replica wedell's are kept.
After the Mulligan and Ryder r-4 are finished a Wedell is next so trip for documentation is soon!(I hope)
