I got some parts in today and finished up my Tmaxx with a XTM 247 motor... been waiting a long time for this. I'll have a vid pretty soon.

zueslilbuddy - everything swaps fine. The only thing I had to resolve was the throttle linkage.. I'll post a pic of that. If you're using the 3.3 tranny you need to do some shaving on the mounting tabs.
Here's the truck on it's first run... untunned.

Pretty sweet, although I thought it was be faster, and be wheelie crazy. Did you have the slipper loose?

I haven't really tuned it or messed with gearing (plenty of torque to gear higher).. wheelies are harder to do. due to longer wheelbase and more weight (engine sits forward compared to stock).
I just wanted to get it running and see how it handled... lots of tunning and tinkering left to do.

On a side note... I bought the engine used and it still has compression.. but it's due for a replacement.
Should I just get the piston and sleeve? or replace the whole thing?
Yesterday I let my GF's little brother drive it... after letting it cool he wanted to use it some more and the one way bearing is spinning:mad:

I suggest you try a different motor like Mach 427 or Picco .28 if you want insane power.
So the OWB is slipping eh. If the bearing is internal, just spray wd40 down the carb and it should clean it out. If its external you need to remove the engine, take off the backplate and clean the owb with brake cleaner.

Well I dissasembled the back plate and found that it wasn't the actual OWB (internal BTW). It seems the crank pin slipped out of the OWB groove and that's why it kept spinning. I installed the washer in this pic between the OWB and back plate and now it's perfect.

Also polished the pipe before putting it back together.

your engine looks to be running very rich, if you want lots of power and speed i would suggest a mach 427. it has lots of rpm, hp, and torque it can get a 13 pound lst2 up to 40 with easy wheelies

Yeah I tried leaning out the low end but there's a hesitation.. pretty much that is the sweetspot on the low end. I bought the motor used so the compression is alittle low... but it still has life left in it.
I guess I'll look into that Mach 427... but I'm affraid too much power will destroy the tranny or diffs (FLM Aluminum cups).

but what i forgot to say in the first place is, your truck looks awesome man, one of the overall coolest lookin t-maxxes i'v seen. i dont really like the ones that are like 99% aluminum.

Tried using the truck yesterday and had tuning issues.. so when I tried to restart it the pull start would not recoil.
When I got home I disassembled the back plate and found that the actual metal insert on the backplate (in the pic above) is moving enough to cause a problem... that's why I had the issue in the first place.. the washer I installed only makes the pull start bind when that insert slides out.
I think I will just get the 427... any other suggestions on a powerfull bashing motor?

For that truck its great because its revs very well. If you get a axial(SPEC 1 NOT RR), i think they are weak on top end, and you don't want JUST torque with your truck. Mach is also very reliable and fairly cheap. Another good option would be a Picco .28 P3 and just run a small insert so that you get awesome fuel economy might be overkill though still even with the smallest insert. The mach cost $110 and the P3 cost $170 from tower hobbies with code. LRP is available but its about the same price as a P3 anyway.
Here is the deal with the mach and for $110 you get the clutch as well!!! with the pipe! you will be wanting the mach from the Muggy so just request that. Comes with the pipe you want, and a gas tank you can modify to fit and its larger. The clutch also works! Just use a 1/8 clutch bell.

If you don't mind spending a little extra, the big RB motors are awesome. The have a pull start .28
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_23_79/products_id/5761
Or if you've got a roto-start already or would even like to get one, they've got one already set-up with a roto-start backplate.

Awesome motors. Sure they're expensive, but they make sick power, and guaranteed they'll last longer than one of the non-italian mills. That's one of the things I've always found with the more expensive italian motors. Sure it's a bit more out of pocket right off the bat, but they're more efficient so you get more run time per tank (save money on fuel) and they have a longer life in general. I'd say it's worth it if you've got the money.

Man those sts's are insane with power. To bad they lack quality and are a bitch to tune and break-in.

the sts's are a good engine for the price.
the rb's are the best though!!!

yea my sts will be run in my truggy tommorow and i am gonna tune the low end a little..but even with it slightly lean it pulls outta corners like crazy...and if i don't like it with that setup i'll switch over to a picco p7 that i have as a spare engine with jp-2 should be plenty of fun lol

I know this motor needs a new piston and sleeve... but I decided to race a friends Muggy anyways (he's been asking to race me).
I decided to race him anyways. We raced 3 times and all three he won by alittle bit... I got the holeshot but he would catch up and beat me by a 1/2 truck length.... on the third race I turned to come back and slowed down. My friend proceeded to punch it and went crashed into me... hi truck is fine... but mine didn't do to well.

time for alum bulkheads?
I plan on running FLM Hybrid combo bulks later... but for now I'm sticking to the plastic ones... rather replace $8 parts than $30 parts.
BTW in the pic above you can still see the tire marks from the Muggy.... it hit the wing and that's why the bulkhead gave out.

Hey, where did you get that BB kit at?
I bought it from RC monster.
It's the Fast Lane Machine .21 conversion chassis w/kit... only thing I needed was a motor and pipe. I used the savage flywheel and clutch assembly.

When RC-Monster and everybody was out of the extended FLM Emaxx chassis, this guy had it and I got it in 3 days time once I ordered it. He is located physically only a few blocks away from FLM and can get anything you need from FLM -
http://www.addicted2rc.com/index.html
Plus he's got a best price guarranty - he was cheaper than anyone else was advertising the Emaxx chassis for.

I found that these new FLM towers use the square body post... but there is some clearance issues.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d193/nis720/RC%20Stuff/SS850140a.jpg
Out came the dremel and I cut the post to size... rounded the ends:D

I also trimmed the Mugen wing mount.... since I flipped the wing mounts so the wing sits further back. this is the result.

The truck wheelies so much it's hard to drive it.... LOL.. can't wait to get some paddles on it and take it out in sand (when I go riding).
The wing serves as a wheelie bar.... vid coming as soon I get a chance.... here's the bumper after only 2 runs on the semi tuned motor.
