"Get Your Kicks On Route 66"
Always been a big fan of anything Route66.
Lost all of my Route66 stuff when Katrina hit New Orleans.
Here's a shot of some cars I'm making for the upcoming 5th International Diecast Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico July 20-22.
The VW Van is stripped, filed and sanded of all imperfections and has the window openings and wheel wells cleaned out.
First comes Adhesion Promoter followed by Silver primer and then 2 coats of Shimrin White.
Next comes 2 coats of SnowWhite Pearl and a light Clearcoat.
She's taped off with Tamiya Modeling tape and shot respective Kandy colors for contrast.
Then comes Decals, details, Center Caps on Headlights and a final double clearcoat of HOK Urethane Enamel with a heavy dose of Brilliant Gold Pearl-Ex Powder for color shift.
Center Caps trim out the rims, and the bumpers have been painted Silver.
Lots of room on this little baby for graphic display.
The 55 of course marks MBox's anniversary but I didn't realize until I finished both cars that the numbers are in sequence, 55 and 66. Kind of neat.
The '69 GTO's flamewraps are handfitted after being stretched, and widened.
The designs are by FlaminGraphics and I've altered them by slipping in some Psychedelic colors.
Body prep and paint procedure is the same as on the Vans.
Details include, chrome grilles, front blinkers, front and rear windshield trim, taillights and Center Caps.
All paint products are exclusively House Of Kolor, Of Course!!!!!!!!
The specks in the photos are all the Gold Pearl-Ex Powder reflecting the light.
You have to see these in person to appreciate the colors and the Decals.
