between the associated monster gt and team losi aftershock which one would you get and why?

Monster GT, its a better vehicle out of the box. Aftershock has a crappy 2 speed assembly, its slow, not as durable, and most will just tell you to get a LST2 upgrade kit as well as the lst2 2 speed, as well as a new engine brace.
The monster gt however. Just take it out of the box. Break it in, and bash the living &(*) out of it.
I personally owned a aftershock, and LST1 and made it a LST2, LST1/AFT is weak suspension arm and CV wise compared to the LST2.

Monster GT due to LOUSY LOSI service I received with one of their vehicles.

I also vote MGT. It's been really durable, the motor is really reliable and it's definitely the easiest truck out there to work on. The layout is really simple so you don't have to remove multiple things to get to what you want.

If you're limited to those 2 trucks, Id say MGT as well. If you have other choices, go with something else IMO. There are alot of different trucks out there, take a look.

Ya id look at the LST2. But the MGT is more durable out of the box. Although the LST2 handles better and has a stronger drivetrain. Could use a few hop ups.

The LST2 has a stronger drive train? Just out of curiosity, as I don't own an LST2 and you have that and an MGT...what problems with the MGT drive-train have you had..because I've had 0

There are 0 lol, but if u try a larger MUCH more powerful motor in the long run I noticed that the MGT could use stronger diffs at times. I think its just flex so alum diff housing is good. And the CV driveshafts wear alot. Plus the LST2 offers 8mm CV's compared to the 6mm. Also the spindle bearings are alot larger in the LST2 and support the CV better. But overall I just think the driveshafts are weak and the differentials may need to be upgraded for much more torquey motors.
I personally ran into no issues except 2 worn driveshafts, and a stripped pinion in the rear. With the LST2 had no drivetrain issues. Both trucks are running a mach 427 sold the nova it came with.

i dont have experience with the mgt, but the aftershock has great potential, with the lst2 upgrade kit im sure it would take the cake, but stock vs stock the aftershock isn't exactly a champion

wow, it sounds like there aren't alot of aftershock fans out there. i just really like the looks of these two trucks and my birthday is coming up. i have alot of other monsters just trying to pick up something new and BIG lol! here's a question for you is the aftershock just a cheaper version of the lst2? everyone keeps mentioning upgrading to the lst2 specs.how hard is it to find upgrade/replacement parts for either?

The Aftershock is about the same as an LST, but the LST has better parts on it out of the box. You can add these parts to the Aftershock, but it will cost you over $100 probably. If you want something BIG, then go LST2. What is your price range?

There is a fairly large differenence suspension component wise, not chassis wise between the LST1 and LST2 and the Aftershock has a FOC but the 2 speed setup is not as great as the LST1 and LST2 setup see how the LST2 setup has the OWB houses in alum and you can't see it but the LST2 2nd gear clutch is housed in alum as well, but the aftershock houses the OWB in plastic as well as the 2nd gear clutch with a metal sleeve.....

Here is the comparison
There great trucks, although if you find you want better durability. Go for a LST2 upgrade kit for $100. I had mine stock at the beginning, although i kept breaking, spindles, rear turnbuckles, a-arms like no tommorow. Then got the upgrade kit, and voila no problems, there is a considerably large different between the lst1(or aft) and lst2, here are some comparison pics!

Yes they are Better, But the Drivetrain Parts are the Best Part of the Up-Grade......

i really dont have a price limit. i want an extremely durable out of the box truck that is 1/8th scale the bigger the better lol! i really love monster trucks. also it must not require a bump box, and it needs to be decently fast. i probably won't race it much. i have a revo if i feel the need to race. i just really want size and durability.

by the way, i really like the looks of the monster gt. what other trucks do you think would fit my requirements

If you want something big, go with a HPI Baja or even a FG monster truck. If price isnt an issue, I wouldnt settle for a LST2.

if you get an lst2 your not settling its an awesome truck that fits what you want very well. it is big, fast, durable, and doesn't need a starter box, it comes with a hand held starter. plus the lst2 is faster than those 1/5th scale gasers.

im not sure i want to step up to 1/5th scale yet. i'm thinking about 1/8th scale. are there any weak spots on the monster gt? and hows associated customer service? are they an american based company or overseas?
ericem

Its american based company. They have awesome customer service incase you ever need it and There are no real weak spots, untill you hit something JUST right and high speed :D
