Alright this is now the third exhaust system I have gone through due to it totally collapsing from impacts and roll over’s. This time it really wasn’t my fault; it got possessed and decided to make a run for it. Met up with a 15' drop first :D (landed on all 4's ) and then crossed the road and slammed into a tee post for fencing on the top side, all at full throttle . Needless to say the next "upgrade" (should be standard on these little monsters) is a failsafe. I still don’t know exactly why it lost transmission, but it tried to run.
Anyways, I know that I am not the only one to have problems with bent exhaust headers and *cough, ouch, pipes* I just don’t want to go with a $100 roll cage and not know for sure that is going to protect the exhaust system, not to mention the added weight for racing applications. I don’t want to replace this too many more times.

Are you running the stock exhaust? Or at least the stock manifold? I know the stock manifolds break a lot, but I've never heard of one bending.
If you are running the stock manifold, I would suggest upgrading to a race-worthy pipe/manifold.

Well it was a Tasis rebel pipe. as you can see the left exhaust tip was bent out of place, pushed into the pipe itself, and the header, well the pictures speak louder than words lol.

What exhaust? LOL
Just have to figure out a way to STOP that from hapening. These pipes and headers are getting to damn expensive. I would llike to put that money towards something else like a tekno rx/batt tank mod or some new tires and rims. :o

you would save a lot by getting a side exhaust set up

Wouldnt that be more prone to being riped off instead of just bent? I honestly dont know any difference, still my first nitro, slowly learning

Side exhausts are protected by the suspension and body.
I've never owned a Revo, but all of my cars/trucks/buggies have had the exhaust on the side and the only time I've had one damaged was when someone t-boned one of my buggies at the track.

Install a wing mount and wing...it will protect the rear area (and the top of the engine) better than the (missing) rear bumper and body mount.

Figure out a way to extend the rear bumper past the pipes. You land on the butt end too often. Let off of the throttle when you are flying mid air and the Revo will land on all fours instead the backend.

Best way to stop it would be to stop crashing on the back of the truck so darn hard!
But, if you can't do that, try a different type of pipe, don't get that pipe again. I have an aftermarket pipe and the stinger stops inside the protection of the chassis and bumper and it is extended out of the truck with a rubber hose instead of the hard tubes on the pipe you have.

that crash wasnt directly on the back, lol, put it this way it lost the throttle servo so it stuck in the open position, no brakes full throttle ;) lucky that was all it took out.

Some where on this site there was someone making custom roll cages.
Draw up a design that would work as just a muffler protector/rear bumper.
Something small that could mount up where the bumper that you have removed would go.
Kind of like the old baha type dune buggys had on them.

Well the bumper was removed for rock crawling, I just forgot to put it back on the next time it went out, and well things got a bit out of hand you could say lol. I ahve since YANKED that servo and replaced it with a new one, and shortly will be getting the tekno wing mount with a soild wing. (any suggestions there?) As for the Tasis pipe, well I think if I ever make it out to the shop I will heat the tips up and try to carefuly bend them back and just sell that pipe, I did end up scoring a replacement pipe on ebay for dirt cheap. After seeing the MAJOR improvement in my buddies revo with the resonator pipe vs' the stock one (which is what I have on there now :( ) I will most deffinatly be going that route. Has everything I am after in a pipe. Loud, Legal, and MUCH better low end response. His can now somehow keep up with mine? that will change shortly though ;)

i've NEVER broken a stock revo exhaust! i know everyone is wondering how. well you know that stock wire mount that runs to the body post tower? unbolt it! that tower is so flexible every time any force is applied to it, it breaks the exhaust. just get a beefier silicone coupler and ziptie both sides of it as tight as possible. i've ran mine like this for a year and a half with no problems!

I run the TCS pipe on mine and it is crazy fast with the 3.3. Much better than the Resonator.

Have a link, information, pics for it?
hogghead, THX for the tip, I will give that a shot and see how bad I can mess it up next time lol.

Hi! hijacker, I am very new here but need to know what TCS pipe is? It sounds very interesting when you said this pipe could make your revo ran crazy fast. I am looking for Trinity pipe one. Is it the same?
Thanks.

Info on the THS (not TCS) pipes.
Good pipes, check it out.
