The designs look very much the same; the firmware probably isn't though. I trust TheSteve on this one (no offense kufman). He knows his stuff.

There was a thread on RC-Monster a while back discussing this, and the Tekin Prez denied this completely; he said that all their ESCs were their own design, and Castle had nothing to do with it. I'd link to the thread, but the RCM forums crashed last week.
I could well be wrong, but that's what I read.

I do believe Tekin has specified how the ESCs should work, how many LEDs etc. But its Castle that manufactures them and writes the software.

Is tekin located near Castle's HQ?

Hmmmm no wonder the software in the Mamba Max sucks, they are working on other stuff!!!

P.S. I did a direct comparison of my Mamba Max and my U-force 75 and in my opinion there is no comparison. The U-force starts up better (never goes backwards), has smooth brakes, and never glitches the brakes on for and instant and then continues on its way. I really hope castle comes out with a software upgrade for this thing.

I have never had this brake glitching issue what motor are you getting this problem with ?

The only problem with the u-force is that it is slightly too low current capability for most peoples needs.

The U-Force is still an amazing controller. Its mostly overlooked now simply because of the price compared to the Mamba Max. I prefer the brakes in the U-Force, they seem to be using a much higher frequency then the Max. In terms of forward drive the U-Force startup does appear smoother in some cases at the sacrifice of a much higher minimum drive speed. Once moving I find the Max responds quicker though and gives a better feel.
The Max has double the fets of the U-Force and the Max fets are better which explains the power handling differences.
Getting back closer to the original topic of this thread - I believe we'll finally see the Max software update to drive more motors once the Tekin R1 is released. I have no proof of this though and its simply a guess based on having a similar experience with the Mini Rage release and Mamba 25 software update.

Pletty Shadow, Feigao 10L and 8S. Only does it a couple of times per run, but that would be bad in a race. It isn't a range problem or radio problem since the exact same setup works with other controllers. I think for now, this controller will get a home in the E-maxx. When the software gets better it will get another shot at the TC5.

The startup problems are only with my sedans where there is very little slack in the drive train. In the e-maxx where I can get 2 or 3 revs out of the motor before the the wheels spin, there is plenty of time for the controller to acquire the rotor position. Running the 4 pole motors, like the Shadow, greatly improves the startup as well for the same reason. With a reduced about of drive train slack, say only 1/2 revolution of the motor, there are more chances for the controller to acquire the rotor postion with the 4 pole vs the 2 pole. This is why the crawler guys can use a sensorless controller. They use the spinning can motors that have 10+ poles, plus their drive trains have a couple of revolutions of slack in them.

And I must say, the Mamba 25 does a great job of running my 14pole 540-brushed-motor-sized outrunner in my 2.2 crawler :).

Dammit! Everyone has a crawler now! I want an AX10..:(:D (I wouldn't crawl with it though....:D:D)

i like the trial thing more than crawler...cause here is no place to do crawling..
