At 1-3/4 turns out you're too lean. Take it out to 2-1/2 turns. The high-speed needle is sensitive on this engine. When on shore, you want a slight lag when you blip the throttle, not a quick rev.

That depends. If you're running pressure, yes. A loose tank fitting will cause your pressure to bleed to nothing, and you'll be running on suction just like we used to in the days before we used "muffler pressure" to pressurize our tanks. Otherwise, re-read Ron Olson's reply. He's right. Your needle is likely too lean. Are you using a pipe? If so, then you need to richen your mixture because the pipe will make your engine require more fuel. That's one of the things pipes do, and why supercharging with a pipe works so well.

If he wasn't getting tank pressure from having the fuel lid loose, that won't give you any pressure to feed the carb giving him the lean condition.

went out today and ran the boat 5 full tanks fine i tied a strap accross the top of the lid to the tank (no leaks when i did that :D) boat ran the best i ever seen it didnt shut off at all she ran like a baby but one thing that happened was the silicon couplin that holds the exaust manifold to the tune pipe melted i read in a couple of fourums it says that is normal is that true?

Yes, that's a normal problem. What you need is this part: http://www.aquacraftmodels.com/accessories/aqub9213-2.jpg to slip over the header to help keep it cool. Get another coupler from somewhere else. I've been using the ones lately from GS Racing, www.gsracing.com as Aerotrend and Prather couplers are getting harder to find.
