I know this competition is about how FAST the cars go, but has anyone wondered how QUICK they are in the real 1/4 mile? That might be a fun category to have too (maybe for next year since this competition is RIGHT around the corner).

I'm curious as to what these cars run in the real 1/4 mile....lol!

At the moment the radio range and line of sight limits the top speed as we only have 1/4 to run up so effectively its the same thing. In the future we will overcome these limitations but for now its a 1/4 mile drag run

Hmm, good question! If an RC car has a terminal speed of, say, 130mph in 1/4 mile, we can assume the ET would be somewhat similar to a full size car in the same distance (not the same, but roughly similar).

My TC4 hits 100 in 3.5 to 4 seconds depending on how soon I open the throttle all the way up. I have never had it wound out, though. The longest I have ever had it full throttle (according to my data logger) is 1.4 seconds. The rest of the run is partial throttle in an effort to keep the tires hooked and in one piece. :D

I wonder if Nic has done anything is this respect (timing his runs). He uses a 1200 foot run up distance.

I wonder if the traps will pick up some of the larger RC vehicles. It'd be fun to have one or two runs using the tree.:D

1/4 mile drag races would be awesome, or maybe just 1/8 mile for the radio and sight limitations...

They're already using the entire 1/4 mile anyways. I think they should flip on the traps for a few runs....:D

I will be using the full length of strip and have the radio range sorted (famous last words!) Hopefully the car will run under 11 seconds
