Anyone know a good source for 1 Mod pinions for 1/8 inch shaft motors? Yes, I'm converting a nitro truck to brushless.

Thanks!

What truck are you converting?

What truck are you converting?

Savage SS 4.6. I love that truck and its plush suspension travel but there are four weakpoints of that truck that's aggravated me to the point where I was about to sell it: diffs, shocks, starting the engine, and the leaning mixture fuel tank. My Savage already has the aluminum diff housings, which took care of the first problem. The lighter weight of the electric conversion will (hopefully) make it lighter so the shocks should be able to handle it. The third and fourth problems will be resolved by running a Novak HV 4.5 on 4s cells.

Thanks, knotted for the links.

1/8 shaft may sheer in that application will it not?

If it does then I'll upgrade the motor and speed control and move the Novak to another project.

It depends on how far away the pinion is from the mounting face of the motor. If it does break, you can always buy a new rotor.

The Savage is too large of a vehicle to run the HV you will either have to gear it very low under 30mph or you will fry it. Even an 8xl will get hot and thats alot more motor than an HV.

What do you mean "too large"? Too heavy? If that is the case then I'll hold off building this one until I can get a bigger brushless motor system for it. In the meantime I can throw this motor/ESC into an old E-Maxx I have but I'm afraid that the drivetrain cannot handle the power.

Too heavy. I'd wait until you have a better motor and controller.

UnitedHobbies sell the Feigao brushless motors ungodly cheap (cheaper than a second hand ebay find...)

Got mine shipped for 60$ and got here in less than a week, so they are worth checking out.
