im tossing up between the Axial .28RR the Axial .32 and the OS.30VG to fit into my TNX5.2R (whatever i drop in will have a rotostart)

i havnt seen any Axials run but but the OS ones ive seen had power similar to the stock force .32

anyone ran an Axial in a monster truck?

theres a pic of it in the TNX thread.
locking the diffs wouldnt help with the racing aspect.

Ya definitely the picco and the axial .28RR have the same power. They rip even better the axials with a rb carb from a 928 i believe?

O.S doesn't suck. We've got some engines from the 80's form O.S. that still fire up. I'm partial to O.S. myself, but I have to agree the Axial is a screamer.

O.S doesn't suck. The particular O.S .30 sucks. I know someone who has to replace his backplate every few gallons because it develops a airleak. Others got very short life. Others said it was slow. Really mixed up results.

well il tell you my results !

First i ran the A32 then the p28 and then A28 it was all tested in the same truck (mgt) i did have a r gun . I did see a difference with my nude eye the A28 screamed down the road but both the A28 and p28 was beat by the A32 in the start but at the end of the 900ft road the 28's win by 1.2 1.3 seconds. didnt git it on paper so i do not know what the speed but i think they was A32speed46mph A28rrspeed49mph p28speed48mph not a big dif but the 28's did not stand a chance in hell vs the A32.

the engines are nowhere NEAR the same. Don't post false info, they aren't assembled in the same factory either. Picco wouldn't manufacture a garbage engine like axial.

I love how k4.6 owners buy a Axial Spec 1 .28 thinking its a better engine... when in reality, its the same damn thing except with more aggressive porting. Same goes for the Axial .32... its roots come from the HPI K4.6 :roll2: In case you cant tell, Axial and HPI engines come from the same facility.

mmkk guys, I say we keep it PG before I have to call Chuck Norris :D ;) :p

And BTW, I still like Axial... and O.S. makes some beastly engines....but the .30 is the exception.....I have an o.s. engine from 1980 ish and it still runs perfectly; well, in my dad's airplane that is....

It's plenty on topic...it's keeping things straight. You can't give an opinion like "OS sucks monkey nuts" without backing it up. Let the people who have experience with the OS actually chime in about it. Don't bash their entire line of engines. That's just ignorant.

I did not I was telling my opinion on the os.30vg

I have read some threads on other forums where a guy that goes by "Supertib" says that he thinks the Picco 28 is the strongest engine he has tested so far. Supertib mods motors and I have seen some of his videos of his engines being test driven and they flat scream and haul butt. Unbelieveable performance. It also has the bigger crank in it that others don't. I have had some Piccos before and have never had any problems with them. Just my 2 cents.

ericem
07-25-2007, 03:35 PM
Yes. Thats is mostly why I highly support that engine. Supertib really knows his stuff. If you watch some of his vid's of the picco's or the sts's its insane. Just the STS isn't as reliable.

my friend had an o.s. 30 and it only lasted a few months. never had an axial and honestly, as long as I can still get a picco .28 for around $180, i never will buy an axial.
