does it enhance any thing, what does it do?

shortens the length of the cables lower resistance and eliminates the possibility of the connectors causing any problems with the mamba max's cogging.

The main thing, is eliminating the possible dead plug in the system. Castle uses 4mm gold banana plugs and the metal expander that is on the male end can loosen and cause a bad connection. Its not that hard, but without gloves, its hot on you're fingers. Also, eliminating the connectors is believed to help with ersistence in the wires, Many people have said that the setups run better, cooler and overall more reliable

tbh I don't think castle use the best 4mm plugs i have seen

They use crap ones...
Many defective plugs have shipped - the spring barrel can't compress enough to make good contact on the center pin.

it's generally going to reduce resistance. Also, according to what I have been told by Joe Ford, it will void your warranty. You can not directly solder to anything on the board. They claim they use some special solder and it "won't even work" but believe me. It works. I re-wired mine before I realized it voided warranty.

I did it to my brushless 8ight T an my setups run better, less cogging/now it almost runs like a sensord system, oh an alot cooler (40*) on my setup.......
8ight T - Neu 1515 1y/f - Mamba Max - 4s2p 8000mah maxxamps lipo battery....
Doesn't this void the warranty?

they just answered it and yeah it does

Well I would like to see a castle representative explain why they have put solder tabs on the board but if we solder to them the warranty is void.
this is ridiculous as the tabs sticking out are a point of weekness and if you cant use them without voiding the warranty then they should not be sticking out in the first place.
I mean not only could they be broken on impact they also make it very easy to short out the connections.

According to several posts in the mamba answers thread, no it doesn't. just eliminating the plugs is recomended by Castle to help with the connection problem and doesn't void the warranty, BUT Directly soldering the motor wires to the circut board WILL void the warranty
So if you do the soldering job of the wires to the board, warranty void.
If you just cut the plugs and solder a connection between the motor and ESC using the existing wire, warranty still good?
Almost seems like there is an issue with the circuit board in a way.
I like my mamba maxes, but they should really do a unit with soldering posts.

That is my understanding from the posts i have read, on this and other forums i read on. I'd call castle if you have concerns, just to be sure.

Just to clarify - they don't have soldering "tabs". They are only exposed holes in the board in which the motor/battery leads come out of.
Any soldering on the board itself will void the warranty. Wires on both the ESC and motors can be shortened all you want. The warranty void is only if you solder directly to the board (motor leads, battery leads, signal pigtail, power switch, etc).

Nope its not specified in the manual not to solder to the tabs and this should have been mentioned as its very unusual that the wire connections are on external tabs yet your not allowed to solder to them.
Any way you look at it the connections are external and on tabs and the only use this has is for direct soldering otherwise why not put the soldering connections inboard or were castle using external solder tabs to make the controller look smaller than it really is.
I always wondered why shawn left castle it cant be a coincidence that he leaves and things have gone downhill afterwards.

When my stock connectors (esc to motor) went bad, rather than hard wiring I soldered two pair of regular deans connectors on. Now I have a great, cool temp, reliable, inexpensive connection and still the ability to swap out motors or disconnect the motor to do any repairs.

I had clogging issues with my Mamba but they seem to have disappeared with I direct soldered the wires together...not to the board. You run the risk of damaging the ESC by applying direct heat to the joints. But after the removal of the pins (advised by Castle techs) and the soldering on the wires...all is very well.
