Good time
Great people

I had a blast! Conditions were diffidently challenging this year. The combination of wind, skechy traction & concrete walls made this event, --- live up to its own name. George Gonzalez was very brave, handling the official Radar duties. Somehow George was able to dodge all the RC bullets thrown at him....LOL (me included) .:)
AJ, (Tony Lovering)---AKA Ziggy, is a great guy. He wants to get a WFRCCC going in the UK next year --- & hold it on the same day as the one in the United States. (Brilliant!)

Thanks
Nic

BTW
The Fastest of my runs (127.2mph) was done with a Schumacher Fusion converted to electric power.

Congratulation guys! Sounds like if was a difficult time.

Just wondering about Nics 160MPH pass last year. Does that seem likely? Based on this years numbers it doesn't (or less likely). As I recall that was with a radar gun, just like this year?

I'm not really sure how a radar gun could be fooled (I've heard of radar "jamming" devices), but is it possible there was a fault or error in the 160MPH reading? Radio noise? Noise from all the brushless electronics?

Probably hard to remember but for those that were there and saw the pass in person did it seem reasonable that the 160MPH pass looked considerably faster than all the other runs? I'm not a statistition, but that 160MPH marks seems a little out of the ballpark.

Is there a video of the 160MPH run from last year? It would probably be fairly easy to estimate the speed from that.

Maybe you guys already discussed this last year. I just thought that with this years results it seems even less likely.

It looked alot fster. It took him more time to slow the car down. Plus this year that track conditions were horrible

The official record is 134.2 mph. There were questions about the 161 mph run and Nic recognises the 134 as being the record.

If we get the track conditions right and there are no wall to detroy the cars we will see 160+ for sure.

Hello everyone Dave Cornell checking in. This years event was a smashing success!! I simply cannot believe how well everything went off! Thanks to all of the staff(s)? both Car Action and the facility. It was a little windy buy I have to disagree on the track conditions, they were simply phenominal! I think the real issue is we as drivers/engineers need to figure out what the best type of tire is for the surface. In a round about way I am saying it would be great if we could organize a few test days during the year. I am not trying to take this too seriously I just like running this event so much I want to do it more. I really like the format, people and atmosphere alot! Well anyway time to hit the sack, talk to yall later.

Congratulations Dave on the World's Fastest Monster Truck Award. I would bet however that your observations concerning the perfect track conditions would differ with a 2WD 70+mph entry. Many of the faster sedans had a very difficult time just getting through the "traps", although Charlie made it look easy!

The track was sprayed with a "medium" coat of VHT by the Speedway crew and in fact did feel very sticky underfoot. Unfortunately, even with drag foams and lots of Koford it was difficult to hook up the 2WD 100mph cars. This makes Nic's efforts all the more admirable as he was able to make pass after pass over 110mph. It's all a learning process & next year we can try something different........maybe lots of VHT in one lane & none, or very little, in the other.

Thanks again Peter, George and the rest of the gang from RC Car Action. We all thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to participate in this competition and look forward to racing again next year. To all the winners, congratulations for a whole bunch of outstanding efforts. What a great event!

See you next year, Jim Schauer

Neat design! Is that a custom made motor from Neu?Yea, its a Neu 2215/3y with a custom shaft. The shaft is usually 8mm in diameter, but I asked to get it in 1/4". I have all the details of my build at www.fastrc.blogspot.com

Very cool. How'd the wheels mount up if the shafts aren't threaded; the wheels look to be clamped on (not unlike 1/8 buggy hex hubs clamped on to their axles, even though those also have drive pins) if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not entirely sure.

That looks like a VERY fun car.:D Have you tried the PiStix adapter for the HV110 at all? That may or may not remedy your throttle problems.

Congratulations on getting married too!

Congratulations on getting married too!The wheels are clamped on the motor shaft with standard 1/10 scale hubs. then the standard 4 bolts screw into the wheel.

I was able to fix the throttle problems. I did see that pistix adapter, but all it did was allow you to see what the throttle was doing looking at a servo. I got it figured out. Now I have to keep my tires from blowing up!

Cool mounting idea. No slippage on the shaft with all that power despite them being clamped on?

As for your tires dilemma... That's sickening that you can balloon foamies. Have you tried any rubber tires (like what Mod Man uses)? They'll probably balloon just as bad (if not worse), but hopefully they won't lose chunks like the foamies.:D

I thought the PiStix "fooled" the ESC into thinking that the neutral point on our pistol grips is the same as the no throttle point on an airplane stick radio?

There is no "fooling" about it.... the PiStix converts the 1.5 to 2.0ms pistol grip throttle signal to utilize the 1.0 to 2.0ms range available on the aircraft ESC. ;)
