In the market for a 7700kv combo or 6900kv combo for my XXX-4 graphite.
I've seen some very good deals before, but am not up to date on where the best deals are now. Where is the best place to pick up one of those combos(preferably the 7700) for a good price, with good availability?

Bishop Power Products has some ridiculous deals (175ish shipped for the mamba system I think is the norm over there; they usually have some deals or X% off most items). www.b-p-p.com

Sweet, just what I was looking for.
178.95 and free shipping. You can't beat that, even a few on eBay I'm watching are more.
Thanks a bunch

Yeah, now I can't decide on a 7700 or a 6900.
I've got a Novak SS 5800 in there and it isn't nearly enough. I figure I can start with the 7700 and program it down if its too much(already program my 18th scale).
Off to search for what most people use in a XXX-4 g+

Where are you going to drive it? How fast can you actually go there? What is the final drive ratio in the XXX4? How tall are your tires?
Work backwards from the required speed at the fastest part of the track. Divide by tire dia. etc. to find the RPM of the spur and then figure your ratio range to find which motor will let you gear for the top speed at the end of the straight. I am running the second to smallest pinion (15 tooth) in my XXX-T on just a 5700 due to the tight technical track we run. I can gear it much higher, but it just makes more heat, and it is harder to drive since I can't use full throttle. The Mamba Max systems make so much torque that it can probably spin the tires at any speed no matter how you gear it, so the proceedure is to gear it for the motor to top out at the end of the fastest section of the track. At Hot Rod Hobbies that works out to around 35 mph. I had my truck geared as fast as 45 mph and it still would make 5 minutes but lap times suffered. The 7700 is basically for 6 cells or less in a touring car with tiny tires and high speeds. The 6900 would probably be at the limit of gearing. The 5700 should give a wide range of useable gears. With the larginsh stadium truck tires I am at the bottom of the 5700 and may pick up a 4600 so I can choose a range of rears.
Your power limit is probably the battery pack, so all of the Mamba Max motors make close to the same max power. (low KV motors can make alot more power on higher voltage) (High KV motors can make the most power on a fixed low voltage, but they draw more current to do so as they make less torque per amp) The different KV's are just like having a primary gear to choose from to get the pinion spur ratio in a range that works in the car for a given track setup. Be realistic and you will be happier. To high of a KV is a waste.

Just went ahead and ordered a 7700 combo from BPP.
To be honest, I was not impressed with the 5800 SS combo from novak, so I went for the 7700. I don't race, only bash and fool around with friends on homemade tracks(no local electric track). I'm running on 6 cells, and don't intend on upgrading to LiPo soon.
I don't feel as if the power will be too much to handle in terms of driving, my only concern is possibly damaging the car. If in fact I do break the car I can downgrade to a 6900 motor. With the amount of programming potential, I can easily lower starting speed and change the throttle curve so that the car is manageable and won't harm the belts in the XXX-4.
Thanks for all the help, its all a great resource.

the novak 5800 is no where even close to the mamba 7700. the novak numbers don't mean the same as the mamba numbers.
you will be blown away by speed increase

I am sure you will enjoy your 7700, but I hope you have some really good batteries. The 7700 needs alot of current to get it's true potential. Even my 5700 demands alot from the batteries. I can't use any of my old NiCd packs at all, and even a fairly fresh Sanyo RC2400 pack is just marginal. I have 4 4200 NiMh packs that work well and give about 12 minute run times. The 7700 motor would probably drop that to 8 minutes. Do yourself a big favor and start with the absolute lowest gearing you can fit in the car. As you learn to control your trigger finger you can gear it up for more speed.

Was planning on using Matched 3800s and Matched 4200s.
Honestly, I'll probably end up buying a few motors and playing around with speed. I liked the runtime and acceleration from the SS5800, but it just couldn't push it to a good speed. I'm not concerned with my own driving ability at all, I've driven a lot of fast cars and am a relatively good driver(on the occasion I do go to the track).
I certainly hope my runtimes are better than 8 minutes, as what I've read in the various XXX-4 forums that the 7700 is the most popular. May I ask what your setup is with the 5700? I'm aiming on lowering the gearing, lowering the torque(whats the Castle word for that, starting speed?), possibly tuning it down more.
When this thing gets here, I'll have my FT T4 with a BK Warrior/Feigao system, my XXX-4g with the 7700 Mamba, and a TC3 with the Novak SS5800.
Thanks for the help guys,
