Go on vacation, take my best piece along to show off, and it starts glitching.(Power cutting off, stuttering, kind of like when you have a hung brush with a brushed motor) Transmitter (Futaba 3PM-FM) batteries were a bit weak, so I replaced with new, no better. The car starts off ok but then the motor cuts out repeatedly (hic-ups), but will eventually reach top end. It acts the same with all the batteries I have with me. I am not sure if it is motor/esc or electronics problem. I do not have any of the manuals or spare parts with me. I checked all connections and tried it with and without the esc fan running. Any ideas...? What usually happens when that capacitor thing goes bad (been meaning to get a spare)? Thanks for any help, Jim

Hmm... can you post a pic of your setup?

This is going to sound wierd, but have you turned the battery around where the tabs are towards the esc? I had a similar thing involving my futaba FM and a ss5800 system, I tryed everything from cap on the recirver to drilling a hole in the antenna tube and couldn't fix it( it was a plastic chassis but thought it couldn't hurt). I turned the battery and it run glitch free, turned it back and got glitch. I think the regenerative circut is causing a feedback due to the nature of brushless, or the emf is coming through the battery wires. Till i went mamba, I kept all esc wires on the esc side and had no troubles, that setup also helped a few others at my track

Also, your receiver should be mounted at least 1/4" away from the chassis if it isn't already.

Thanks guys for responding, I am back home now where I have more resources and will try your suggestions and keep you posted. I also have a new Mamba 4600 system that I can try... thanks again, Jim

I would assume that you have a wire that is bad to the receiver from the ESC or it is getting interference. If accelleration is fine then I would assume that you electrical wires are fine. My basic checklist for radio issues.

1. Batteries in transmitter in a decent level.

2. Check distance for glitching with no motors running. See if steering is glitching. Could be a bad crystal. If you have another radio try it.

3. Check all of the power wires. If there are any signs of fraying just after solder joints then redo all of the connections. Odds are you have a wire that is not connecting consistently. A system that runs hot out of the blue consistently may have this issue if it was running fine before.

4. Check wire routing. Wires to servos and receivers do not like to be near items that cause interference. Run them neetly and away from other wires\motors when you can.

5. Check swap the wire from the ESC to the receiver. If this one is going bad it can cause a glitch.

6. Anntenna routing. I do not route my antenna through the chassis. I put a small hole in the tube above the chassis and route it up through that. For some reason I get odd glitch issues when I go through the chassis compared to many people.

7. Your batteries could just be getting old and week and large draw are causing a problem. Borrow some known goods or test yours in an comperable car. See if the problem follows batteries.

8. You may need a glithc buster if the voltage is dipping to your receiver by to much.

I have had not one glitch with the castle system, only the novaks had messed with my Futabas

OK, I tried the antenna trick and reversed the battery and took it for a test drive on the street in front of the house. I only heard it glitch when it was far away and and hitting it with full throttle from a slow speed, anyway I think it is an interference issue. As you can see from the ground down tops of the shock towers you do not want to go full throttle from a dead stop! Although I am satisfied with the power of the 7.5, I am looking forword to trying the 4600 in another car but I need another FM receiver. (I had no luck at all trying to run the Novak on AM radios, hard right and full throttle when it glitched, not so good!) Thanks Again for all your input... Jim

Had the same issues in my XXX-T and was told by a Novak rep that it was more than likely the Cap. I bought new one and have yet to install it.

I got rid off al my electrics(cars/trucks) but I'm now converting a CRT.5 that the 7.5 will be going in to. We'll see what happens after I change that cap out.

Add glitch buster to r/x and the hard throttle glitch far away should go away!

I do have a Glitch Buster cap on another car out at the cottage, I will be going out there this weekend and will try it on this car... thanks again for all your input... Jim

Also inspect the sensor wire harness to make sure all the little wire pins in the connector are pushed in and making a good connection. I have changed motors and had something like this similar happen to find it was the black sensor wire pushed out of the connector at the ESC.
