I have a bit of a dilema. I went to my local hobby shop last week to get some information on the Proboat Thundercat 31 that I have wanted to buy. I had asked what the best boat for running on both smooth and rough water (full sized boat traffic on a Large lake). Much to my suprise I was told that the Shockwave 36 monohull would be a better boat then the Thundercat 31 Catamaran. My expirence with full sized offshore racers has told me that cats are more stable and faster. Both of the boats would be run mostly stock form with their Dynamite .32 nitro engines but I would tweak the propellers, trim tabs, ect. Can anyone who has these boats please give me some advice on which would be the better boat? Thanks a Lot.

Buy the one that you want, it's that simple. You're the one who has to be happy with your purchase, not me, anyone else on this site or the guy at the hobby shop.
With any boat no matter how large or small including full-sized boats you can't outdrive the water conditions, that's what the throttle is for.

I understand what you are saying Ron, but i was asking if anyone who owned one or both boats could give me some advice on them as I am a "Nitro Newbie" I am unsure of what boat would handle better if it happens to get hit by a rogue wave(anywhere from 6 inches to over 2 feet) caused by a passing boat(i obviously would not run the boat if there were many waves of this size). I am also curious as to what kinds of mods people have done to these boats to make them go faster and to prevent (or at least reduce the frequency of) blowovers, spinouts, and partial sinking. I was told to put screen over the air intakes (to prevent spray from rushing in)and put pool noodle parts in as flotation foam. If anyone has done this please let me know.

Hey captjack- Im not sure if youve been to rc universe,as there are many post reguarding both boats .Each boat has everything you ever wanted to know and more about them. As well as many post comparing the two. There is also a great video of the two racing eachother. Look on youtube and put in search words like shockwave or thundercat.
