Fastest Gasoline powered RC Car.

I am just trying to find some info on what the fastest Gasoline powered 30 cc or smaller RC car is?? 1/5 scale buggie or car willbe fine.

There is a post on here somkewhere (cant find it) of a guy who has made an RC go kart and has had it up to 140 mph. Its for sale on ebay (or its been sold)

For power to weight ratio you cant beat a .21 (3.5cc) circuit engine. Its lightweight and at over 2.5 hp is very powerfull.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I am asking is I modify Zenoah engines for boats for a living and have a few world records under my belt. Most popular being the first over a 100 mph with a gasoline powered RC Boat and the fastest one way pass of 102.7 mph with a Zenoah. I also hold the Nitro Touring car record with RC Rods 2.11@64.62 and modified the engines in Marc Davidson's record holding .21 ProMod 1.66@82.14 and Nitro Pro Stock 1.84 @ 73.31. http://www.rcrods.com/records.html

The reason I am curious about the record for these types of cars as I have recently done some work on a friends HPI 1/5 scale Buggy and started talking about how fast we think it can go. We then heard about the Worlds Fastest RC Car Challenge and want to know what the record is for this kind of car to see if we would even be competitive. We would like to attend if we can get more info.

There were no 1/5th cars at the event and I dont think there is a seperate class for them. I suggest you bring the car along and set a record!

What size engine was in the touring car? What mods were done to it?

Hello,
The engine in the touring car was an O.S. TZ18 modified by me at CC Racing Engines. I really do not know how fast that car would be if i set it up for top speed as it is set up for drag racing 132ft. As of right now I am more interested in the large scale gasoline stuff.
Could you tell me who I could get in touch with to discuss the rules and the 1/5 scale car stuff with?

Someone ran a 1/5 scale car last year at (I believe) over 80 mph. Look at last year's threads for more info. :)

That would have been Frank Killam and Bob Sarnelle from VS Modelsport. I think that ran again at an oval track later last year and got in the 90s.
