Hey everyone,

I put a Vector X11 6.5t in my TB02 with the stock gearing on a 61t spur for testing and on first impressions I need a much lower ratio (and new diffs :o )

I don't have the motor's manual right here with me but I believe LRP suggests a 7.8-7.9 ratio. The ratio I used was 8.35 and the motor, Sphere esc and very old Sanyo 2000mah NiCd I used were cool at the end of the pack. On low traction settings the motor reached top rpm in about 3/4 of a second.

Really bad video, just so you can hear how quickly it got to top rpm on low traction settings

These lead me to think that 7.8 will still be too high. Are LRP's suggested ratios really set for optimum performance or are they a bit on the cautious side? I feel a ratio around 7:1 would be closer to the sweet spot.

The only thing you really need to go by is motor temp. If the motor stays below 160F by the end of the run, your gearing is fine. The best gearing for the track is when the motor tops out at the end of the straight.
