I have yet to choose a motor for my new Mamba Max ESC but should I even bother trying to install my brushless setup in my TL01? Will the heat be a problem or spur gear slippage? I'm sticking to using 6-cell Nimhs for now too..Thanks

I don't know if it would definitely be a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, there are only 3 mounting positions for the motor to change the pinion?
19 pinion being the smallest? You may not be able to gear it low enough. I'm only summising though.

I can go down to 4.92 with the speed tuned gear set but is that low enough?

Personally, i wouldnt put a brushless setup within 10 feet of a TL01, i just dont think it would be able to handle it...but people have tried and succeeded in the past...

When you say "handle it" do you mean the car would melt down because of the power? or You wouldn't be able to control it because of too much power?

Tamiya make some of the strongest bashable cars around. They may use plastic everything, but plastic is stronger than graphite or carbon fibre and so on.
I think the car would handle it physically. I don't think you'd be albe to drive it to the fullest with that much power though. Things like suspension geometry on the TL01 are crude compared to other cars.
Fully ballrace it and there is no reason why it shouldn't handle the power. Maybe a gear may strip, but you can replace that with a stronger mixture of plastics if and when it strips.

Although I've already got the Mamba Max, I'm thinking about just getting the Novak 13.5 motor...should be easier to control and thinking about maybe even racing it brushless stock at the local track...
