3S means 3 cells configured in series. You will have 3, 3.7 nominal volt cells wired together to create one 11.1 nominal volt battery. It will actually carry closer to 12.6 volts fully charged.

When you see 2S2P you know about the first part saying 2 cells in series but the rest of it means there are another 2 cell in parallel doubling the amperage of the pack to what they have rated it at.

They have already taken that into account when rating pack. The P should be ignored for most practical purposes.

so a 7.4v pack is going to be 2 cell correct? New to this too

A 7.4 is a 2S and any number of P.

I like to look at it this way..........
A 2S4P consisits of....2 packs in a series with each pack containg 4 cells per pack hooked in parallel.

what does the 20C or 22C mean on the lipos

That it can discharge at 20 or 22 times its capacity. Lets say you have a 5000mah lipo rated at 20C. 5000(capacity)/ 1000(mA to A) is 5Amps.
5amps x 20 = 100amps
So in the above equation, 100amps is the max discharge rate, correct? I'm new to LiPos too :p

@GTX - that is correct.

Generally 20C is the constant current draw it can take, a burst rating is also given most of the time. I have seen a burst rating anywhere from 30 to 40C.
