What kind of buggy should I get? I will be racing at my local track after I get it. I want one thats fast straight out of the box, and RTR. I want one that has alot of upgradeability(if thats a word::huh:) I have been looking a t the Traxxas Rustler, Duratrax Evader and Asociated T4. I only want to spend about $240 that includes batts too, maby a little more.

I have another question to about the motor. Is less turns faster or slower then more turns and what do they mean by when they say its a 19turn qaud. What does the quad have to do with speed?:huh:

Now to the batteies, What is the differance between NiCDs and NiMHs. I know Nicds have tht memory problem and NiMHs dont. But which last longer?

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wave::D:):cool:

i would go with the T4 i just love associated cars..and for the batts u would rather go with nimhs i just think theyre much better than nicds..idk tho i started with nimhs..i just use nicd for my roto starters..

This is how I would break down that group:
The T4 is the best straight up racer.
The Rustler is the best basher(super tough).
The Evader is in between.
If you want to race some times but mostly bash, I would go with the Evader. If you think you might become serious about racing, grab the T4. If you don't live any where near a track or hate competition, get the Rustler.

An electric motor is classified mainly by two things: turns and winds. The turn is the most common number. A stock motor is 24 turns. A 10 turn motor is a hot modified. The turns refers to the number of times the wire is wraped around the arm. The wind is not talked about as much but is still important, especially for racing. A single wind is very torquey. A stock motor is 24 turns, single wind. A quad wind motor would make most of it power up high in the RPM's. It would be good for low traction situations. The wind is the number of strands of wire used in each turn.

As far as batteries. Go with NiMh. They are just as common if not more so than NiCads and they generally yeild longer run times with a very slight and almost unnoticable loss in punch.

1. You're best off with the t4 for racing. Its got lots of upgradeability (yes, that is a word on this forum), and has ok speed out of the box. But that gives you money issues. The t4 is about $240 without charger, batteries, and everything else you need. So if you cant do that, go with the evader. I got one as my first rc and love it (see my username). With a couple upgrades it can hang with the other cars, and its only $170 without discount at Tower. ($150 with discount)

2. The turns refer to the amount of times the wire is wrapped around the armature. A lower turn motor is faster, and draws more power. A higher turn motor is not as fast, doesnt draw as much power, so your batts last longer. The "quad" you are referring is the number of wires wrapped around the armature, called winds. The more winds a motor has, it will have less initial torque, but more torque at higher rpms, and vice versa. Its hard to notice the difference though.

3. The only difference beween nicads and nimh's is the cell chemistry. Nimh's are better. They dont have a large memory problem, and they have higher capacities than nicads. For your application, get some IB or GP cells, 3300 mah or above. Since you're racing, the assemble-it-yourself packs are probably the best. The cells are better quality, usually matched, and you will have less electrical resistance in the pack by soldering it yourself. Hope this helps.

Ok the cells that you buy for making your own battery pack, where do you get them? Also whats a good charger thats cheap? I definetly like the t4 and the evader the most.
