any idea what BL motor will fit in my iwaver 02 (not the 02M). i will need a cheap esc, so i plan on using an aircraft one. which one should i use? i dont like the stock servo, so i will be using a small hitec or something. i just want ultimate speed.

If I remember right, the Iwavers come with 130 sized motors, so I'm guessing something like a 130s sized feigao motor would probably fit. As for the ESC, check out the dynamite 25 amp ESC or look on ebay for a 25 amp car ESC (it pops up every now and then, and it's much cheaper than a mamba).
I'm not sure if the motor will mount up properly though (130 brushed motors aren't cylindrical, whereas the brushless are for example). Maybe some other people can chime in.

that sounds really good.and yes, they have 130 sized motors but i was looking at a 370 brushless motor that was the smallest i could find at .8in x 1.2in but it would bareny fit in the car, so a 130 brushless would be perfect. how much do those esc's and motors usually go for? this is a low budget project.

Check starluckrc.com for 130 sized brushless motors. As for the ESCs, the mamba 25 ESC is 75ish bucks, and the Dynamite one is probably about 65ish. The chinese one is probably 30 or 40 bucks roughly, you gotta search for those things though.

well i found a place that has vry cheap ones. 130 brishless motors for about $15-$30, and 25 amp or so esc's for $25-$30. i will post the website later.

Those ESCs are plane ESCs. You CAN use them, but it's going to be a pain in the ass to set it up nicely, and then the issue of brakes arises. Plane ESCs don't have proportional brakes (if they even have brakes at all). Plus, being that they're plane ESCs, they are rated slightly higher than what a car ESC of the same construction would be rated at due to better cooling (IE-airplane moves through the air at higher speeds and the electronics receive active cooling all throughout the flight; not the case in a car). Airplanes also subject their electronics to a different load. They don't spike high current draw repeatedly like cars do upon acceleration and braking.
I'd say spend the roughly 60 bucks and get the dynamite 25 amp ESC. Or, if you're on a little bit of a tighter budget, definitely look around ebay for a 25 amp car ESC. It's floating around out there, and is a PITA to find, but if you can find it, it should be worth it in terms of cost.

the thing is i was under the understanding that the speed controller is built into the same board that has the receiver on these cars in which case how are you going to connect the controller to the receiver on the board or are you going to use a separate receiver.

I have the 120 amp esc version of that and it doesnt work for rc cars at all. Its start up sux. The brakes engage at neutral, and sometimes it glitches(I stopped it right infront a rain drain, it glitched, which made it go foward and went straight down into the gutter. So id stay away from all plane escs. Save up lil more for the dynamite its only like 30 more when u include shipping as it would cost 20 to ship from united hobbies ( Ive bought from there before)

how about this? (https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4860)it probably has the same problem as you mentioned before, but it says it has hard and soft braking, and i plan on using a 3 cell lipo, but you cant beat that price!

Thats what the hextronik has as its function. I wouldnt suggest it.

well, i dont want to go too much, i'd say for a motor, esc, 27 mHz 2ch. reciever and micro servo, about $100.
as i said, it is a very low budget project, as i just turned 16, and am too busy to get a job right now.

Ive looked at every way possible for that little amount and dont see any way to do it. Im sorry but even if u went brushed u need more than 100.

how much do you think i'd need then, i can get a reciever for $20, servo for $15, and a motor for $28, so I that leaves me with about $35, so maby like $150 would be better, so i could have $85 to get a little better esc and stuff and still have some $$ hopefully after shipping.

150 should be ok, but what about a battery.

i'm thinking about these (http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/AAA-Lithium-Ion-Battery-with-Button-Top---320mAh__13017.aspx), because they will fit the holders it has, and i have to keep the holders because the body mounts to it and i want aftermarked bodys to still fit, no mods needed

dont include the batteries is the budget though, they will be bought later. i will be using my energizer 900 mAh rechargeables for now.
