The tail motors typically live a short life on 3 cells. The main motor will have reduced lifespan, but it is the tail that will go quickly. I went separates with my Piccolo, and used a high frequency tail ESC. This protected the tiny brushes on the tail motor. But this also requires a separate receiver, a head hold gyro and an ESC for the main motor. Not the cheapest setup, but one that gave me pretty good flights.

hey you'll never believe this i didnt go with a lipo setup after all, i found a 8 cell 9.6 volt 650 mAh NI-MH. And boy does it get great flight times with no motor problems (heating up). the flight times are easily 7 minutes plus estimated deffinately more than what i had. will have to get more flights in to get a hard number on my flight times....... will report back
flight times were less than 4 - 5 minutes on old batteries

Air Cav - you take things too seriously, some of the threads you dug up where over a year old. :D The folks who originally posted them had probably forgotten all about helis and moved on to something really exciting like Bingo or 500 piece puzzles. It was just a "to let ya know . . . "
