Just messing around with some colors and graphics for my Custom Cars for next Summer's 2008 International Gathering Diecast Convention in Albuquerque.
MBox is introducing some great new castings so I've picked this MiniCooper Van and the new Alfa Romeo for my Convention Customs.
While the factory issued paint and graphics are certainly nothing to write home about, the casting itself screams out for color and pizazz.
Here's a shot of the rather bland fleshy/beige color and PostOffice style graphics as it comes from the factory.

Removal of the simulated roof vent along with twin parallel raised lines along the upper portions of both fenders and across the bridge of the nose transforms this little jewel from an everday utility truck into the sharp stretched MiniCooper that it is.
Fenders and Hood are filed down smooth and then sanded nice and round.
Wheel wells are ground free of crud.
The same crud is filed from the insides of all window openings.
Ugly casting scars are also removed from each side of the roof.
Center Caps are used for headlights.
The concave backside of the Center Caps allows them to form fit to the rounded headlights.
Fully Detailed, Windshield and rear windows, Head and Taillights, door handles and Grille.
Panel windows trimmed freehand.
Rivet reassembly.
Primered, 2 coats of Shimrin White, 2 coats of SnowWhite Pearl.
Each of the individual contrasting colors was shot using HOK Intensifiers and Intercoat Clear.
1 part Intercoat Clear, 2 parts RU311 Reducer, and 2 -4 drops Intensifier per car.
Each color is further enhanced with matching Pearl-Ex Powders.
Final Clearcoat.
