Is there any way to make a servo have only a positive negative input output (2 wires, like the red and black) so that you can reverse the motor by switching polarities. Also, we are trying to make the servo usable without the use of a transmitter and receiver.

This is for a college design competition, so any help is appreciated.

No.
There are such things as "reversing y-harnesses" though so you can have one servo go one way and the other one will reverse.
RC servos require a pulse on the signal wire to make them do anything - basically a sine wave. Hook it up to an oscilliscope sometime and you should be able to figure out how to control it.
Honestly, if you have a whole lot of trouble with that part, you probably need to find a simpler project. :)
If you really wanted to, you could probably bypass the internal amplifier and just run +/- from the motor straight to your power supply. However, it won't hold position for you and you won't have hardly any precision whatsoever.

Thank you for the help. We might just hook it up directly to the motor then. We are not looking for perfect accuracy, nor holding power, just to move something into place.

And no, we can not design something that is more simple, it is a national robot design competition, and we are trying to do it autonomously.

Again, thank you for your help, and any other ideas from other people are still appreciated, we are still in the design/research phase.

Oh cool. You should be able to remove the potentiometer as well and grind off the stop inside on the top gear which will allow continuous rotation.
