I have an Intellipeak charger that I have had for a while and it normally works fine. I just charged a older 3800 pack and it worked. I just bought 2 brand new DTX 4200 side by side packs, and when you hook it up, all it does is buzz. It will not charge or act like it even recognizes the battery. What gives? These are NIMH packs, so why does it work?

My old Intellifalsepeak used to do that on new batteries. The voltage must be like 2.5 or higher for that charger to do anything with the pack. It will trickle charge it until it gets to the minimum voltage, and then you can charge as normal. Just be patient. It may take half an hour.

Ni-MH Battery Charging Cautions bulletin
The latest generation of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries incorporates a new chemistry mandated to be more environmentally friendly. These batteries, when charged with peak detection fast chargers, have tendencies to repeatedly false peak (not fully charge). These include all brands of NiMh batteries. If using NiMh packs be especially cautious when charging making absolutely sure that the battery is fully charged. It is recommended to use a charger that can display total charge current. Note the number of mAh put into a discharged pack to verify it has been charged to capacity.
