I've been having a great time flying the HobbyZone Millennium Personal Transport Unit (PTU) around the office. It has good control and is very durable (I know!). Check out this RTF guy in the March 08 Backyard Flyer.

The Millennium is much better quality than most of others in this category. It is actually a single rotor design with a operating tailrotor and has a 2.4GHz radio so there's no issues with infared Tx's. I think the street price is around $50.
