Is it possible or has anybody used any common 12v DC adapter to power up their DC chargers? If so what was the results?

For instance I see a nintendo gamecube power supply has an Input: AC 100V 91VA 50/60Hz, Output: DC12V 3.25A.

The fore it looks like it satisfies any of our DC charger requirements. Do you think this power supply will hold at 3 amps?

Just wondering because this alternative looks way easier (and sometimes cheaper) than converting one from a PC or buying those dedicated units at the hobby store/websites.

I use one of these (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3942756), good for 6amps.

I found out someone else has mentioned, "unless it's a regulated adapter I wouldn't recommend using it. The slight changes in voltages will cause the charger to false peak and various other problem which will just give u headaches."

Is this a true statement? Are our chargers dependent on stable input voltage? If this is the case, why?

How do you determine if a DC adapter is the regulated type?

I was going to look for a DC adapter that would be rated at ~6 amps (like you referenced) so I can use it with my digital piranha to go up to 4 or even 5 amp charges.

That and for a DC LiPo charger in the near future (cell pro 4s?).
