why when elec. touring cars race outside they use rubber tires? wouldn't foam be better? i mean they use foam on the nitro touring cars. can someone give the reasoning behind using foam or rubber in certain applications.

I'm not sure but I would say it has to do with weight and power.
I run rubber on my nitro sedan but our track isn't super smooth and tacky so I like them to last awhile.

It's primarily a matter of preference. Most racing organizations specify a spec rubber tire now, which makes it much better than in the past, when it was whatever tire/insert combination would work. This would cost racers hundreds of dollars because there were so many combinations of tires and inserts. Spec tires eliminate all that and make rubber tire racing more affordable. Foam tires on nitro cars works better because the foam provides more traction when running on a surface that's coated with oil and fuel residue. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)
