Hi guys,

This might be a dumb question, but I have a question about transponders. I've only raced at the local track a couple of times recently (using one of the "house" transponders.) I'm considering picking up my own, but I have a question that I keep forgetting to ask on race night.

I know they get plugged into the receiver on the car, buy do they go into the battery plug, or do I need a 3 channel radio?

Also, could I use a 3 channel receiver with a 2 channel trans? (since I really don't need the 3rd channel other than to possibly power the transponder)

Thanks for your input.

Mike

To answer your first question, yes, you can plug a PT(personal transponder) into either the "Batt" slot or a 3rd channel slot on the receiver, works fine both ways. And as for your 2nd question, as long as the receiver is the right kind for your transmitter(if you run FM 75MHz, the receiver must be an FM 75MHz, etc.) then it'll work fine, you'll just have an empty slot on the receiver(which can be used to power PT's, fans, telemetry systems, etc.).....

Grizzbob,

Thank you for your advice, I've never paid much attention to those thoughts before, as they did not effect me.

Now I know.

Thanks again, for your time.

Another little tidbit, if you don't have even a battery slot open, you can y-harness it into any channel. I prefer steering so that the extra link in there doesn't cause an issue with throttle or overall power delivery if it were to fail.
